i know this, you know this, but 99% of the public doesnt know this, and this is the point of view that this article is written on. When someone like Raymer, who pretty much no one outside of 2+2 had heard of before his wsop win, wins the main event it brings people into the game and the game grows. How is that not what Rosenbloom said? Did he say Greg was a bad player? No [/ QUOTE ] MEbenhoe, I'm separating the responses to your post- you'll see the other one as a new thread. I agree with most of what you replied with, of course. My original problem with Rosenbloom's statement is that he is repeating the prattle that always comes out when a new face appears. I may have too high of an expectation level for his reporting/investigative abilities, but I expected him to do a little more research into who is doing the winning. We've seen enough of the snapshot articles about poker, with no real reporting work being done and no real appreciation for the skill that goes hand-in-hand with "luck" |

Fossilman can outplay most players on the planet. After running the table two years ago he finished better than over 5000 players in the main event. Between the two finishes he probably outlasted more players than played in the main event for the first 15 years altogether.
Surely you need to get lucky to win such a big event, and you need to be able to afford a hotel room for long enough to get through the event should you be lucky enough to get there. Your whole post makes no sense. If someone is a quality player, then they should be able to afford a hotel room. The only people who might not be able to afford the hotel room for two weeks are the people that win their way in for $40. You may not like him, but Fossilman is a terrific player and happens to be a good person. |
