The only person on your second team that is of any real value is Carrick, but even he is an overrated POS.

i think both of those statements are like maximum wrongness.

All I know is I bought Nani two seasons ago on FIFA 07 and he has come through. At first he was backing up Adriano but then I got a nice offer for the Brazilian so I sold him and just stuck with Nani. In another season he'll be worse than Erkin, another fantastic young purchase, but he'll no doubt take me on to the extremely rare, yet occurring practically every season, quintuple.

im pretty sure we could buy most of sevilla's roster for that.

This post is in a nutshell why Real Madrid and Barcelona fans who are not from Madrid or Barcelona are annoying. Must feel pretty awesome to be able to act pompous because you chose to support one of the largest clubs in the world despite having no connection whatsoever.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have to be born in Barcelona to support them?

That's one of the dumbest things I've heard this week. You can have a connection to a city without being from there.

My place of birth doesn't even have a pro team *at all*, I've just been a player/huge fan of the game my entire life.

Should fans like myself pick a random team name out of a hat? Yay, S.V. Zulte-Waregem! Jupiler league champs 2008 for sure!

Conversely, I would agree that 'fans' should not pick whomever is in first and then taunt real fans of other teams, of course -- if that was your point but I don't think it was.

I started rooting for Barca when Cruijff was starring there, a period of one La Liga title in 25 years. Almost as bad as the goddamn Phillies.

This was basically my point. I obviously went overboard. I was trying to say that I think it's pretty bad form to support a club that's always at the top with a billion dollar roster and as you say taunt fans of smaller teams. It's marginally worse when you don't have a connection because them being a big club is one of the main reasons for your support. I don't mean being a fair weather fan, but new fans tend to support a club based on history, players they have, and other random factors (friends like them, politics etc.) which will tend to push them toward bigger clubs.

Either way as far as I'm concerned it's water under a bridge. I interpreted his comments as taunting in nature. Apparently this was not his intent.

the following players are RIDICULOUS if you get them early in fifa 2007:

-anderson
-kerlon
-diego
-rafael sobis
-daniel alves
-jesus navas
-johan vonlanthan

FCRJ has managed to win the quintuple 3 times. my first buy was messi and he went from like an 87 to a 98 by the end of the first season

Hah, I also bought Kerlon and have Alves and Navas. Navas quickly became the best player on the game. He's a 98 right now and I think Messi is a 92 for comparison.

If you're a few seasons in Erkin, at least for me maybe it's random, becomes an upper 90s guy about 5 seasons in or so.

dude aren't all these guys really damn good to begin with and really expensive?

for some cheaper players (surely I'm not the only that doesn't play as one of the giant clubs) try James McEveley from Blackburn or Adu. actually, just about any MLS player is way under priced.

Kerlon is pretty cheap as I recall. I think he starts in the mid or even low 80s in skill and you can get him for about a million or so. Maybe not for a random second division team, but I think you could get him with any top flight team, especially if you sold some random bench warmers.

Speaking of summer transfers, I'm surprised none of the bigger clubs have tried to sign him for real.

yeah the thing with kerlon when you start is that hes 18 and an 80. So he only costs like $6mil or something. Then 3 years later hes valued at like 24mil. lol kinda cheap but fun.
