[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Completely Useless By September The small bears swept the Cards 5 years ago as well. What happened that year? [/ QUOTE ] Wager? [/ QUOTE ] on what exactly? Division winner? How far the Cubs are out in September? [/ QUOTE ] How bout just better record? [/ QUOTE ] what odds? how much ($100 is about as high as I'll go-I'm a conservative nit)? [/ QUOTE ] Even though you should probably be giving me a few games or better odds, I will take straight up better record for $100 at even money. Same thing for this Houston clown who is so proud of winning one series when St. Louis obviously had the better team. [/ QUOTE ] Your Mom, when am I able to mathematically eliminate the Cubbies and cash in on this??? |

[ QUOTE ] The Cards will win the division and probably the first and maybe the second round of the playoffs, but you have to be delusional to think any NL team other than the Mets can win the World Series this year. [/ QUOTE ] Nice interjection/random comment. Not sure exactly what you are referring to, but I think you'd have to go pretty far back in time to find a Cardinals fan that posted anything about this team actually going to and winning the 2006 World Series... Of course you are equally as delusional if you think a Cardinals team would have absolute zero chance of winning this year's World Series. Not saying the chances are good as everything stands now, but [censored] happens... [/ QUOTE ] Anything's possible I guess. Just disappointed in my league and especially my team. The NL is just so weak with one good team (Mets), one decent team (Cards) and 14 other [censored] teams. |

edit: also, i can't remember the last time i saw someone intentionally walked with the bases empty and a hall of famer in his prime batting behind him. although knowing broxton, maybe his pitches were just so far off the plate that it only looked intentional. [/ QUOTE ] Scott Rolen 31 yrs old: 1996-2006 (11.5 years) .286 1398H 245HR 3372B 917RBI 97SB 3 years he played in fewer than 100 games (96, 02, 05). Rolen has had more than 100 RBI 4 times (104, 107, 110, 124), batted over .300 1 time (.314) and never had more than 174 hits in a season. Scott has topped 30 HR in a season twice (34 & 31), and spots a nice .895 career OPS. He has finished in the top 10 of the MVP voting one time, 4th in 2004. Rolen is a very fine player, but I really can't see how he can be considered a HoFer in his prime when he is an underdog to make it to 2000 hits or 350 HR. In this era, he has IMO no more than an outside shot at the HoF, driven mostly by his generally superlative defensive ability at 3B moreso than being a transcendant offensive player. jvs |
