jacksonville looks like it knows what to do. but why black chips? [/ QUOTE ] I guess they think they will need Black for the No-Limit. It was stated that they were only ordering a "FEW" blacks, whatever that means. As far as Tourney's they have no more info. But I really don't want to pay a much higher buyin to play in these really crappy structure's. I will go back next weekend and see if anything new if known. |

From their website http://www.flaglerdogs.com/poker.cfm They will offer the following cash games after July 1: Limit Hold’em: $2 straight $2-$4 $5 straight No Limit Hold'em Cash Games: $1-$2 NL with $100 max buy-in $2-$4 Action NL 7 Card stud: $1-$5 spread Omaha Hi-Lo: $5 straight [/ QUOTE ] They should dump the $2 Straight Limit, and keep $1-2 Limit for the newbes. Also what is "Action NL"? |

I called them just now. The $2/$4 Action NL will have a $2 ante. They have not decided on the max buy-in yet, as it is not clear how to interpret the new law.

Also the rake for NL games is the same as limit games -- 10% with a $5 cap.

It's looking better and better. Hopefully all will dump any idea of a time charge.

[/ QUOTE ] meaning all players have to ante $2 on every hand in a 2/4 NL game? So the SB has to put in a total of $4 and the BB has to put in a total of $6? So on a 10-player table the pot is already $26 before ANY action has been taken and it's just $4 for each player to limp-in? Wow. That could get pretty wacky. Pretty sure I don't like that very much. I'm hoping the person you spoke to on the phone was using the term 'ante' in some different kind of way or just didn't know what he was talking about. Regardless, it's just one place and it doesn't mean that's how it's going to work all over the place. Interesting though that they haven't decided on a max buy-in yet and are still interpreting the law. Seems they are also looking at that part that says 'maximum required buy-in of $100' and are hoping that it means that people can be allowed to buy-in for more than that when the actual rules and regs for the games finally come out. |

That's what it means, Bob. Most of the rooms here in Broward County have it now with the straight-2 THE.
So yes, there is $26 in the pot before the cards are dealt. The gamboolers here -- and there are many -- love that game. Also, you'll see a lot of straddling at these tables. |

I just spent a couple of hours at Dania Jai-Alai playing the straight-2 double-flop holdem. First time I've played live in quite awhile here in Florida, as I usually get really bored with it in about 10 minutes.
Anyway, same old stuff. People continually acting out of turn and then pulling back bets, three or four people throwing chips all over the place to where you never know who's in the pot for how much, two or three people at one end of the table showing each other their cards and discussing the board while it's still in play ... and the dealers refuse to do anything to try to stop this nonsense. Will we lose this kind of crap in the New Florida Poker World, or will we still have to put up with it? |

From what I have heard from the few rooms I have talked to the buyin will be $100 min and max. It's really the way it needs to be with such a low max to work with. Any other way would just slow the game down with rebuys and new players every 5 min. [/ QUOTE ] I'm not positive but I think you might be exaggerating the situation. I think that similar games already exist in other states. Probably have some slow-down issues with the rebuy factor, etc but they keep spreading them anyway so they must feel like they're okay. I've read of some pretty crappy NL structures in California for example. And they don't rake 10%. It's $4 drop even for a $10 pot I believe. Just looking around on pokerwiki I see Commerce and Bicycle in LA spread $40 buy-in 1/2 NL ($40 is the min and max buy-in) and $100 buyin 2/3 NL. Also $200 min/max buy-in 3/5 NL. On allvegtaspoker.com I see that Luxor has 1/2 NL with $50 min and $100 max buy-in. Just browsing through it appears that many of the 1/2 NL in LV is $40 or $50 min with $200 max. Obviously you're not going to get must worse of a structure for NL and lots of places do it much better. But these 20-30x BB buy-in games aren't as incredibly rare as you might think. |

I'm looking at the link for the Ebro Race track.
Only 15 miles north of Panama City where I might be moving in a couple weeks (GF's new job there hasn't been confirmed yet). It says they have 22 tables in their poker-room so doesn't sound bad at all. I see on their schedule that the hours are only 4-12 on Mon and Thu. It also lists Tuesday night as 'Free Admission'. So does this mean I have to pay an admission on the other days just to get in there even if I'm only playing poker? All this dog-track stuff is completely foreign to me. Here's the schedule I'm looking at: link |
