Who are all the teams that will actually flat out refuse to draft a guy because of character issues? Obviously all teams will take it into consideration but for most teams there comes a spot in the draft where the value of the pick outweighs the character issues. What teams really walk the walk and refuse to take a guy all together?

The Vikings under their new ownership might refuse someone all together.

Colts GM Bill Polian has said numerous times that there are very talented players that they would refuse to draft. Judging by the Colts roster he seems to mean it. Other than the Doss gun incident a couple years ago, I can't think of a Colts player getting in trouble in non traffic violation scenario.
They have had the Rhodes DUI and another guy got arrested for for driving on a suspended license because he had an unpaid speeding ticket, but both of those strike my as the type of relatively minor incidents that are going happen in any random group of 60 people. Marvin Harrison was once accused of roughing up some kids at the probowl but that was so laughably absurd that I don't think anyone ever took it seriously. |

From PFT on the pot smoking admissions:
[ QUOTE ] The primary complaint (by teams) is that the NFL and the teams persuade these players to be honest and candid. Their reward for doing so? Someone blabbed. One league source believes that the team or teams responsible for the disclosure reside near the bottom of and/or on the fringes of the top ten in the first-round draft order, and that the team or teams are hoping that the information will cause the players to slide . . . because the team or teams who leaked the information would love to draft them. There also is suspicion that the story was stoked by agents with players in the top ten other than Johnson, Adams, and Okoye. [/ QUOTE ] Man, if that's true, how much sleazier can you get? [ QUOTE ] From the media's perspective, it's definitely newsworthy information. [/ QUOTE ] Why is this newsworthy? It would be more newsworthy if they found a player that legitimately never smoked pot. It seems more newsworthy that the others are liars to me. |

[/ QUOTE ] The Eagles have generally stayed away from bad character guys under Reid, with the obvious exceptions being TO and Freddie Mitchell. After the TO saga, I think Reid is even more cautious of bad character guys. |

I don't think its fair to lump Freddie Mitchell into the bad character guys.

PFT is reporting that Alan Branch has stress fractures in both legs. [/ QUOTE ] I saw that. If true, it certainly could explain how he's gotten a rep for a lack of work ethic, taking plays off, etc. Stress fractures hurt like hell. |

[/ QUOTE ] It sounds like there is some debate about this though. Does that hurt his status even more? Aren't stress fractures usually sort of a recurring type of injury? |
