klepton,

Right now I feel the same as I did at the end of Alias' third season -- after which, I didn't watch a single episode of the fourth or fifth seasons. I finally downloaded the series finale the other day, just to see how it turned out. I expect I'll be doing the same with Lost.

You sure go out of your way to make sure everyone knows you won't be watching Lost anymore. I think there are still about 4 different ways you can say it, but maybe it would be easier if you just drank Drano?

Does Clancy Brown have a lazy eye or something? In some of the Kelvin scenes, it really looks to me like he has a glass eye (specifically when he asks Desmond if he is 'him'), which would tie in to the one that the tail-enders found in the Arrow hatch. However, in other scenes, his eyes look to be okay, which leads me to think it might just be something the actor has. I don't know.

I downloaded an excellent copy of the show and watched it again. Running time 1hr 26min. I think it was important for me to watch over again was the scenes between Desmond and Kelvin. Kelvin tries to reveal some big factoids in his early conversations. When he makes the statement he left the army and joined the Dharma Iniative he tries to act quite silly/nonsense.

Some other weird things I noticed:

Kelvin claimed to be doing recon to add to his secret map. But it turned out he was working on Desmond's boat. Or was he doing a little of both?

Desmond realized the bio-hazard suit was meaningless. Yet in S02-EP1 when he fled the hatch, he took a bunch of the medicine with him. Wouldn't he have stopped taking it by then?

In Desmond's flashback he was watching the Orientation film repeatedly. Kelvin said "Make sure you put it back behind 'Turn of the Screw.'" Why did they make a point of saying that? We knew that title from the first time they found the film. It seemed unnecessary.

I think Kelvin was doing both island exploration and boat repair, which would explain why it took him around 3 years to fix the boat. Why make the map invisible, though? It showed that they could fake a lockdown, but it seemed like they didn't know how to turn on the blacklights (we still have no idea what caused them to come on in the first place). The map is still unresolved for me, and I hope there is more to it. How will we get Radzinski's story? Kelvin turns up alive, has a flashback episode, then dies again?

Just to be a nit, Desmond didn't flee the hatch until S02-EP3. We did see him give himself an injection in the opening of S02-EP1, though. Desmond has always had some faith in the hatch as a whole. So while Kelvin's bio-suit wasn't necessary, the big Quarantine sign on the door probably kept him believing that there was some kind of sickness out there. Also, he believed that DHARMA supplied the injections for some reason, so he kept taking them. He asked Locke if any of the survivors had gotten "sick, as in ill, as in dead", so he definitely had some lingering doubts about the sickness being fake.

IMO, Kelvin mentioning 'Turn of the Screw' was just a call-back to earlier in the season. In S02-EP3, the writers just wanted to point out that book for fans (as they have done with several books) and then added it into the finale as a way of saying "see, we remember small details like that". Sort of like how they started the finale with Desmond saying "you" to Jack, as that was the end of the first episode of the season with the roles reversed.

NO SPOILERS AHEAD. JUST INFO ON NEXT YEAR'S SCHEDULE.

FYI...just listened to ABC's Lost podcast, and the guys said that next year they will have mini-season of six episodes or so that starts in September. Then they'll take 12 weeks off until February, when they'll run straight through to May sweeps w/ the rest of Season Three.

Interesting. Still annoying, but definitely better than this season's two-weeks-on, two-weeks-off crap.

Here's the link to the ABC podcasts:

http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/podcasts/108849.html

The last one (May 26) gave me a LOT of stuff to think about over the summer, so I recommend giving that one a listen unless you are an absolute non-spoiler purist. There is no direct spoiler information, just "here's some of the stuff that will be explained"-type spoilers.

An example (in white):

<font color="white">The monster will definitely be back in season 3, and there are some very interesting stories to be told about it. Carlton Cuse also said, "There's a good chance that you guys saw the monster this year, but just didn't realize you were looking at the monster. By the end of next year, you will understand what that means."</font>

Yes, but what of Danielle mentioning that she had to kill her husband to keep the infection from spreading? She also instructed Claire to kill Aaron if his fever did not subside.

Kelvin asks Desmond if he is "The One". Who is this person that he was expecting?

I just saw Libby at Target. She was wearing a wife-beater and bright blue little boy-shorts. Hot.
