What other options do they have? Even if they throw in the towel they don't have many guys they can trade for prospects

Am I the only one in this thread that thinks Myers, upon his return, should be immediately put back into the rotation?

[/ QUOTE ]I said this when he went to the bullpen, but it looks like the Phillies won't do it.

Also I'm not saying trade prospects or anything spectacular. Hell, Victor Zambrano would be something. Let Moyer work with him. Just some sort of half-ass half-washed up might give you five quality starts all year guy. Anything is better than JD "batting practice fastball" Durbin. It's sad my expectations are so low and still can't be met. I can't imagine how it feels if you expect them to make a big move.

I wouldn't object. But Myers has said some things indicating that it would take him at least an extra month to be ready to start games again.

Of course not, but Manuel has said that Myers will stay in the bullpen, so I think all of us are strategizing with this in mind.

to everybody that responded,

I haven't rly been following this thread until recently, so I was just trying to gauge the various opinions with that Myers question.

although I wasn't aware that it would be an extra month delay for him to return as a starter. so I'd imagine that changes things a bit.

so does the starting rotation.

I'd like nothing more than for Myers to return to the rotation, but everything everyone close to the team says that's not going to happen. So, in that case I'd like to see them pickup someone, anyone, to help the rotation, but I've been a Phils fan long enough to expect them to do nothing productive.

Also, I don't think he's anywhere near returning, which is nice, considering when he went down a month + ago it was said that his injury was only a minor muscle pull that would keep him out a couple of weeks. And Tom Gordon's trip back to Philly in spring training was just routine too.
