Only NYY, Cle, and Det have scored more runs than the Phils, pretty good company. Only Tampa Bay and Texas have allowed more Puke

Manuel finally decides to put in the one guy on the Phils who can always hit a deep fly ball in this series - Burrell - which at Coors become home runs, and sure enough Pat hits his 3rd in 4 games.
Cholly - the best place to play Burrell are HR parks like Coors, CBP, Wrigley. This is not hard. Aside from the fact that he can't get out of a slump on the bench, or increase [create] any trade value or any value at all if he doesn't play. Guy's got the 2nd lowest, unluckiest BABIP, let's try to play him more in hitters parks, m'kay? |

So play terrible the first half of the year, just barely slide in at .500 @ the All-Star break and be sitting 4.5 out? Thank god the NL East, well okay the NL blows.
Considering last year at this time they were 40-47 and 12 games out. |

God I hope we can get healthy in the second half and make a push.

Remember the Cards! [/ QUOTE ] I don't think Myers/Gordon will be enough. Either they need to make a deal for a starting pitcher (unlikely) or go iron man with a 4 man rotation (even less likely). |

A healthy Myers/Gordon would be a big step up for the bullpen. Of course a warm body that has a prayer of getting somebody out would be a step up too.
I'm suprised Gillick has not come up with a veteran arm for the rotation yet. All they need is some sort of serviceable fifth starter. There is really no blockbuster move needed. Kendrick has been good, Eaton has managed to stay healthy and much better than expected. I have a fear about Hammels staying healthy for the second half. Moyer at this point is the pitching coach. They could use a warm body to give a quality start here and there and just hold down that fifth spot. Since for some reason Brett Myers needs to be in the bullpen. |
