[ QUOTE ] New mock on PFT is up. Very interesting stuff. 1. Oakland Raiders: Calvin Johnson, wide receiver, Georgia Tech. 2. Arizona Cardinals (from Lions, projected): Joe Thomas, offensive tackle, Wisconsin. 3. Cleveland Browns: Brady Quinn, quarterback, Notre Dame. 4. Minnesota Vikings (from Buccaneers, projected): JaMarcus Russell, quarterback, LSU. 5. Detroit Lions (from Cardinals, projected): Gaines Adams, defensive end, Clemson. 6. Buffalo Bills (from Redskins, projected): Adrian Peterson, running back, Oklahoma. 7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (from Vikings, projected): LaRon Landry, safety, LSU. 8. Atlanta Falcons (from Texans): Amobi Okoye, defensive tackle, Louisville. 9. Miami Dolphins: Levi Brown, offensive tackle, Penn State. [/ QUOTE ] I don't know about all the pick swapping... [/ QUOTE ] I think this mock draft is a joke... no way does 3 out of the top 6 picks trade down. I think its sort of close to what some of the teams want to get with a few exceptions. Suggesting at this point that the Raiders would get anything but a QB is crazy. |

[ QUOTE ] Edge ran for over 1000 yards behind that godawful line which has already been signifacntly improved in mroe ways than one. [/ QUOTE ] How well your running back did means nothing in terms of your need at left tackle. [/ QUOTE ] Since when is running for 1155 yards on 3.4 yards per carry ever been a successful season? Edgerrin James only ran for 100 yards twice all of last season. He had some absolutely brutal games last year. |

Any stiff with a pulse that starts all 16 games and gets the majority of the carries can pile up 1000. Also, lets not forget that the Colts window of opportunity closed when the lost Edge.... |

FWIW I think the Raiders should definitely take CJ. Russell is a much bigger gamble and could definitely end up hurting them if he doesn't work out.
As a Cards fan, they obviously should take Joe Thomas if hes there, but they don't need to be too disappointed if he isn't. I would LOVE to see them with LaRon Landry, for example, or any of the highly rated defensive linemen. I also wouldn't mind them trying to move back a bunch and piling up picks. They have some great building blocks, but their talent pool (especially on defense) is VERY shallow. For them, drafting a DE, LB, CB, S in the first round would be good and a DT wouldn't be bad either. |

[/ QUOTE ] How well your running back did means nothing in terms of your need at left tackle. They got rid of Leonard Davis and now have their former backup right tackle at left, which is a very difficult move anyway. They need a left tackle. edit: Heh, Leinart's a lefty isn't he? Nevermind. [/ QUOTE ] Edge ran well in the last 5 or 6 games when the line seemed to gell. He ran godawful early on. yeah but everyone is saying they need Thomas for the running game...Leinert wasn't getting sacked like David Carr or anything. Thomas at #5--obv Trading to #3 or #4 yeah as long as u don't give up to much but it depends how it goes #1/#2/#3 cuz u may not need to make that move. but given a lot of teams are trying to trade up to #2...the Cards would have to offer a lot...and RT is far more important than LT cuz of Matt being a leftie...plus they have added several guys and their line is improved...so its not a desperation type need. If they sign Thomas their line will go from godawful last year to very good this year with good depth. But their dline needs help..their LB's need help..their Cb's need help etc etc. So trading out of the pick is far better than trading up for Thomas. I have a feeling they may be able to stand pat and still get Adams or Thomas which is perfect for them |

I don't know about all the pick swapping, but I think this is very close. I really think that 8th for 10th swap with the Falcons is going to screw the Texans. [/ QUOTE ] I agree. I said at the time of the Schaub trade that swapping picks could cost Houston Levi Brown, and a lot of mock drafts have Brown going 8th or 9th. Of course, Houston probably would have [censored] up and left Brown on the table at #8 anyway. |
