So in the 45 minutes since I logged onto 2+2 and this thread, the VPIP% on my 2 hollywood tables plummeted from 35% and 39% respectively to 19% and 21%.
*chuckle* This sucks. |

[ QUOTE ] Speaker: all those in favour say aye (tons of ayes) speaker: all those opposing say no (tons of nos) speakers: the ayes have it, gg (hits hammer) [/ QUOTE ] I have experience with the Ontario Parliament, and I'm sure its the same in the US. Basically everybody knows the ayes have it, so thats it. But... there is a procedural rule that says if anyone disagrees with the speakers (or whatever the US counterpart is) interpretation of the results they can get a real person-by-person vote. In votes like this where every single person knew the result ahead of time, they don't waste time doing it individually. [/ QUOTE ] Right, yeah, a lot of the times what people will do (typically minority members) is ask for "division," which is how it's done in the Vermont Legislature or a roll call. Sometimes they ask for division if it's close but more often it's just out of spite and roll call is obviously done to make sure that there is a record of each individual member's vote on an issue (so it can be used against you in November). I'm sure after a long day if everyone knows the outcome and wants to go home they'll not challenge a simple voice vote. |

I like how there's nearly 1000 people in this forum when a couple of months ago there was never more than about 5.

Could this be a speech that holds up this bill in consideration that the Port Security Bill isn't finished?
