Ok so here's me in a nutshell -
My name is Ben, I am 25 years old. I was born in Minneapolis and moved to Atlanta with my family when I was 9 years old and have lived in Atlanta ever since with the exception of a 3 year stop in Athens for college. I have a finance degree from UGA and have spent the last 5 years doing just about everything except finance for a relatively small company here in Atlanta - accounting, IT, selling, buying, dispatching trucks, managing inventory. Heck they even taught me how to operate a forklift . Currently I manage our accounting software even though my computer knowledge is distinctly meh. Life situation - I graduated college at 20, got married at 21 then divorced at 24. Fortunately no house and no kids so it wasn't much different than breaking up with a serious long term girlfriend although it really altered my perspective on life. From the time I was 19 I felt like I knew where my life was going and then everything changed - but ultimately for the better I think - even though she is an awesome person she just wasn't the right girl for me. For now I am just living the single life and trying to have some of the fun I missed out on by trying to be a grown up starting when I was 19. I just got into law school but I don't think I'm going to go - I'm just enjoying myself way too much right now to make that kind of commitment. I'm living by myself for now but will probably get a roommate or two when my lease is up. Sports - I love tennis and bowling and am pretty good at them since I played them both competitively in high school, I also love football and completely suck at it (but most of my friends are worse than I am lol). Games, Poker, WW, etc - I have always loved playing games and I am one of the most competitive people I know. My whole family is insanely competitive - to the point where my ex-wife wouldn't play games with us because she didn't like how "mean" we were. I started playing poker after watching a couple of poker shows on television with player bios and interviews and thinking to myself "hey these player bios sound just like me - maybe I should try this". For about 6 months I thought I was going to get really serious about it but I realized that I just didn't have the right emotional makeup for it - losing just hurt too much. I am now content to dominate my home game, win some money when I go somewhere live poker is legal and donk around at microlimits online just for kicks every now and then. When I was in college my friends and I would play live mafia all the time - when I saw an online version here I knew I had to play. For the record I am much better playing live at both WW and Poker. Religion and politics - I am all about tolerance here - live and let live baby. I love to talk about them but only with people who enjoy it themselves. Lets just say I am a Christian who is ANYTHING but conservative. Other random crap - All through high school and college I was either the dorkiest cool kid or the coolest dork - I could never figure out which. I was all-state academic bowl and all-state chorus in high school. I love to sing and love Karaoke although I distinctly don't have a good rock voice but I can pull off Brian Wilson (BNL) or Bohemian Rhapsody (Queen) pretty well but if I ever try to sing anything by Bon Jovi again I should be killed on the spot. I drink more than I should, just quit smoking cigarettes (still going strong on that ), and have never done any illegal drugs - I've never even smoked pot. For anyone wondering HerbieGRD means absolutely nothing - I used it as my username for my first email address and have used it almost exclusively for any kind of online signup stuff I have ever done - everyone assumes it means something or that my name is actually Herbie - lol Anyways - I just wanted to say thanks to all of you for letting me in to your little community. I really enjoy playing these games and getting to know all the very smart and very awesome people who play on here. If any of you are down around the Atlanta area let me know - it would be very cool to actually meet some of you people at some point. [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] POG and everyone here |

Also the funniest part about reading this thread for me was that almost every single bio post I read made me think - "yeah that could have been me if things had gone a little differently in my life"
