How about a Mid-stakes Blog thread to appease those who can't stand all the blogging here?
Anyone with me? |

So i have run pretty bad this month and will not meet monetary goals, but in all honesty this is the first month is like 3 years where i have just legitimatley took a lot of days off and felt good about, so i didn't put in enough hands (prolly like 25kish) Fortunatley i crushed the commerce while i was in LA for a week so i think i am still like +14k on the month which is fine, and it marks 5 straight winning months, my longest stretch in some time (beat) Somehow this summer, after a long time playing poker and a ton hands, i have mastered the arts of both playing my A game at lower limits and scaling back goals and how much i play to a point where i dont ever feel compelled to play. Pretty good valuable stuff there, as i used to SUCK at both those things. Also i have gotten a bit of money into stars finally, i think my plan will be to camp at 10-20 and 15-30, and play higher when the games are good or when i feel the urge to get unstuck quickly. It's amazing how much less stressful 6 handed 15-30 is than HU 30-60 regardless of how overrolled you are for the game. I think my goals for the school year are to 1.)play 35-40k hands a month (generally easy for me, but courseload and the gf will make this a bit harder than usual) 2.) Average 20k a month while in school and not have more than 1 losing month in this period... Should def. not be too hard assuming i stick to playing most of my hands at lower limits, but if i play higher more than i want to i might avrage more with a bunch of losing months. Then again once i have 75k hands breakevens my play deteriorates so thats a merit to playing lower with a larger edge. 3.) Get a 3.5 GPA. This is so doable, but it i need to focus on school and make it more of priority. I start my major courses this year, so i can try to do well and report only my major GPA... Just gotta play a bit less poker and give piority to school work, and most importantly attend more classes/pay better attention. 4.) Have fun... drink and smoke a lot, play a lot of FIFA, party hard, keep the gf happy, and dont stress 5.) Get into real estate more, start/continue building a portfolio 6.) Get an internship. I dont really want to do this at all, but not doiung so would negate a large part of the benefit of a 160k or whatever investment college is going to be so i might as well have some options in case i suck at poker and real estate. If anyone is wondering why this post is so [censored] random, i am in this happy medium of being drunk and high where i can process thoughts and type cohenrently, but cannot seem to keep to one topic or have any sort of flow to how i articulate my crunked thoughts, and also feel this urge to ramble like a [censored] moron. Weird. Usually i cannt type when i a, this [censored] up. [/ QUOTE ] congrats... but you're averaging 20k a month and thinking about getting a "regular job?" Isn't that pretty good? And +1 on keeping the blog posts, they are entertaining. |

In an effort to exorcise the poker demons that have hung around during July and August, I have started a new StatKing database for recording my live sessions. Online it used to work to create a new PT database when I was running bad, so I figure the live equivalent has to work as well.
You'll only hear updates if it works and I start running good. |

God fing damnit. Last 5 downs no pots in the best Bellagio 30 in months. Highlights:
UTG raise and 4 coldcallers including Mr VPIP100, I call on the button with 77. Flop 654 checked to MP who bets, vpip100 raises, I 3bet, 2 call 3 cold, bettor and raiser call. Turn 6, checked to me I bet and get 2 callers. River 4 checked to me I check. vpip100 tables 32. vpip100 limps, I raise with AQ, vpip90 coldcalls as do 2 others. Flop KK9 checked to me I bet, vpip90 calls, vpip100 calls. Turn A check I bet 90 calls 100 calls. River whatever, i bet they both call. Mr VPIP 100 promptly shows K4. 100 limps, I raise TT, he calls. Flop 442, he donks, I raise, he calls. Turn Q he bets I call. River 8 He bets I call. He shows 43. From the time I won the last pot around 3 to the time I left I was ahead on exactly 2 postflop streets (and it was with 99 on an 865 T board. 4 river duh) |

Retard1 raises UTG like 7 handed, moron calls, I call with 87o in the SB, Retard2 of course calls in bb. Maybe debateable but whatever everyone is terrible.
Flop 863 2 spades, I bet, R2 calls, R1 raises, moron folds, I 3 bet, R2 coldcalls, R1 4 bets leaving him with 3 chips, we both call. Turn Ad, checked to R1 who bets all in, I checkraise to $90 for 1.5 big bets. R2 coldcalls. River 9s, I check, R2 bets. R1 looks like he's going to muck so I guess I have to call. R2 turns over 93o. R1 shows A3o. The sheer stupidity of this hand astounds me on several levels. Oh and I broke my record for biggest live loss in one session, wasn't playing great but wasn't on tilt or anything, just couldn't beat a table full of idiots, which I'm pretty used to after all this time. I did have to bite my tongue pretty hard a few times though. 5 racks, oh well. Turned my great month into an ok month. Which I guess is better than losing for the month. Ugh. |

Possibly my new most favorite hand ever:
4 handed 75, Roc raises CO, I 3bet A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] on button, fold to him he calls. Flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] He c/r, I 3bet. At this point I can have the best hand quite easily so this is just to regain control and basically take a 1 bet showdown sometimes. He 4bets, I 5bet. It's not entirely out of the question that I still have the best hand, but in case I don't I still have 7 outs almost always and now I'm definitely taking a free card. Finally he 6bets. I guess maybe he might have a pair after all, that's a shame. Turn: 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] He bets I call. If he had KJ this would have been a fantastic card for me. River: 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] He checks which is bad news for me because I can only beat A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]X[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I check behind. Q9o good. Here was another fun one: Mr Lee raises UTG full 75 game, I call in BB with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Flop: 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I c/r, he 3, I 4, he 5, I 6 and say "Aces no good", he 7, I 8 and he calls Turn: Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] This card is absolutely disgusting, but I must bet as giving a big heart draw a free card would be awful. He calls. River: random blank I bet he folds yay 8 bets on the flop There was another interesting one but I forgot it. I'm pretty excited that Mr Lee is back though. In fact you could say that this development has exciting implications. *edit* NOW I REMEMBER THE HAND I go to piss and get back having missed my big blind. 5 handed 75. Buying the button in this spot is quite horrible because I will have posted when it's Roc's button so there is -47% chance it will fold to me and it can come 3 to me very easily. Of course I do it anyway. As I put my blind out Roc puts 6 chips on the button and says "automatic" and I put 3 bets out in front of me as a joke. Dealer deals cards, fold to Roc and I wait for him to do something as his 6 chips are still on the button and my 9 are still in front of me. He of course leaves his 6 out there to raise. I see that my hole cards are a King and another King so I decide I should probably leave my 9 out there and 3bet. He 4, I 5, he 6, I 7. He calls. I bet dark. He raises dark. I play very badly so I don't 3bet him dark. Flop comes [censored] AJ9r and I am not happy because as soon as he raised dark I thought he had AK. However as soon as I called on the flop it almost seemed like he wanted to vomit. Turn random blank I bet he calls. River T which is awful because he probably has a good hand for once and TT is very possible, but I bet anyway he calls and mucks QQ face up. I'm just mad that I didn't dark 3bet I probably could have dark 5 him or maybe even 7. God I play bad. |
