Moved from Honest Joe thread:

In thinking about means and ends...

What would the short and long term results be of making public ray bonnert's subscriber and user list? Should not be too difficult by way of discovery process via suit.

B&M's share information via a security org (I forget the name) but the effect is that if you get banned for card counting (for instance) at one casino - your info and pic are INSTANTLY flashed to all other subscribing casinos around the world. Is there no on-line equivalent?

It's quite possible Ray's ISP or upper level isp would happily tell him to get lost - would not be hard to bounce him around the net such that his website and forum would be down more than they were up. Meanwhile primary whois info pasted at end of mssg.

I suspect that if Ray B's time were mostly taken up with stay out of jail, stay solvent, stay healthy, etc, we'd have much less of a problem. Instead, like schmucks, we give him free public platform to pontificate and proseltize - enough already! Time to get a little tougher.

Oh yes, nearly forgot...Ray please don't thank me for my honesty - your platitudes are worthless

I never said he was, and yet it is surely arguable that he has set out with malice aforethought to provide the method and means to purposefully circumvent the site's T&C's for the express purpose of taking monetary advantage, and that would seem to be grounds for suit. Class Action? quite serious in suggesting this.

However, I'm not really that bothered whether he has broken any law or not, that's for a court to judge - I'm more interested in bringing all LEGAL direct AND INDIRECT methods to bear on this problem - if a court finds in his favour yet discovery results in the public dissemination of subscriber info, so be it. He's chosen to climb into the cauldron, we simply have to light the fire

Party poker also bans Thailand, but not because there's rampant bot making in India/Thailand as you seem to believe. I'll leave it up to you to find the REAL reason...

what IS the real reason?

I don't know if this has allready been noticed, byt when watching the Zippy Movie I counted it to 31 computers.

Then I got the idea to count those names:

Heh, that would've been nice ..but I'm fairly sure it is just a coincidence. To minimize the chance of listing real players, I only listed "bots" on which I had logged >2500 hands.

This is a very interesting post and starteling. I double counted, and you are right, 31 bot names, and 31 cpu's in the video. Very interesting. Then I was looking a bit closer at some obvious material to put here:
The video maker said his last post was 2005 Sept 13. The idea that he implies is that his bots have been unsuccessful and he has been working on them since then or, that they were in the testing phase.
He then shows a room of 31 cpus (possibly 30). Impling that his bots are very successful at this point.
Rage Against the Machine music is blasting in the back ground.
This video was uploaded on February 19 2006 (according to the site). But the video claims that it was created May 1st 2006 (and states, "See you in may").

The one holding the camera is not wearing a wedding ring, the room with the cpu has sunlight coming in from outside (so it is not in the basement), and the walls are your standard cubicle walls found in any office. The filing cabenet and flouresnt lights reinforce the idea that is in an office. The door locking mechanism seems like it may have been reinforced. You get the idea it is a one man op., because the same person who opens the door is holding the camera. He has white skin, groomed fingernails, and hairy arms. Judging from the angle of the camera to the door know, I estimate his hieght between 5'7" to 5'11". His arm seems fit and I would guess that he is between 170 to 230 lbs. I can't tell for sure whether the plugs are American or European.

I'm willing to guess that he is an America (perhaps Russian American ).

Although, Russians are world renowned for the hairest of arms...That was a joke, comrade! I have nothing against Russians (for the record). Ask my Russian friend (no picture available). I was just using that as an example (in my previous post, in which someone claimed I was obsessed with the cold war . I do believe that bot users, even those based out of the US, could use Russian or similar addresses and phone numbers to deter ID verification...thus I'm willing to suggest: 'ban all users whose ID's and addresses can not be reliably verified' (even if that means Romania, Russia, Nigeria, ect - I'll miss you!)

Secondly, we subcontracted our high level programming to Russia at $15/hr! Similar programming here runs about $60/hr. We think the Russians subcontracted that out to India actually, but that is irrelevant. Many US programmers can make $100k per year and lack the incentive to spend a year creating a poker bot, and in the process possibly break laws through ID theft, ect, though I wouldn't put it past a rogue programmer seeing the potential.
