Situation comes up a bit, not sure if I have a leak.
When a villain is shortish (let's say 50BB or less) and I hit a big hand, I never worry about protection. I just think, "I want all the money in the middle, I don't care what the board does, it's all going in the best way I can find". This can happen, as in the eg below, on the flop, or often on the turn when villain has say $20 behind and you decide to get him in with 2 $10 bets rather than, say, one "proper" sized bet on turn of $16 or whatever. So you may be offering him ok odds to call but your higher goal is to get all his stack. Is this ok, or should I still be betting to protect? The particular example doesn't really matter, but here's kinda what I'm talking about: .............................................. saw flop | saw showdown Button Button ($26.40) SB ($41) BB Hero ($49) UTG ($50.50) UTG+1 ($121.42) Preflop: Hero is in the BB with T [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 folds, Button raises to 2, 1 fold, Hero raises to 6, Button calls 4.50. Flop (13.25) T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero checks, Button checks. Turn (13.25) 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Hero bets 7.50, Button raises to 19.90 all-in, Hero calls 12.40. |
