hey cardroom manager of sarasota i hope you read this. what as sholes are gonna play 6-12 limit with just a 100 buy-in? just like playing 2-5 no-limit with the same buy-in. how about leaving it like it should be and have a 1-2 no-limit and either or 2-4 5-5 limit games spread.

[/ QUOTE ] The key word here being "required". Right now, if I want to play limit poker @ Hard Rock the REQUIRED table buy-in is $20, but I can sit down with $5000 if I so choose. With the wording as it is: if a card room wants to spread 6/12 Hold'em, you will be able to sit down with $1000 if you want to, but the card room cannot force you to buy-in for more than $100. |

i welcome the sarasota manager's aggressive interpretation of another poorly written piece of legislation. some cardrooms are gonna push the scope of the law because of the ambiguity and some are gonna play it safe.
the only concern i have about sarasota is that the manager doesn't seem to notice the impracticality of holding 6/12 fixed limit with only a $100 buy-in. i can do 3/6 for 17 bets, maybe, but spreading a fixed limit game with a max buyin of about 8 bets, which is what they intend to do with 6/12, is not a good business decision. [ QUOTE ] As far as other limits please leave the interpritation of the statute to us. We understand the law and what can be offered. 3/6 and 6/12 are well within the rules of the new statute as long as the buy-in does not exceed $100. And Scott the words No-Limit are nowhere to be found in the current statute so please don't put words in anybodys mouth. We are not trying to pull a shot just trying to offer you guys some variety. as i un derstand the law to be its 5 dollar max betting li mit and a no-limit if required buy-in is no more then 100. 6-12 is a betting limit and according to the place i play at in florida they can't spread it.

Wait a second, I think we're stopping too short. If "However, a cardroom operator may conduct games of Texas Hold-em without a betting limit if the required player buy-in is no more than $100." means that we can run 6/12 and that the $100 only means the max a cardroom can require, we need billboards in Vegas to draw out the World Series side action. Let's plan a $1,000,000 buy-in live action no-limit with $5,000/$10,000 blinds and a $10,000/$20,000 fixed limit game for July 1st.
Or we could just wait for the officials to clarify the statements which will allow no-limit live action in a similar context to $5 poker. |
