I think everyone is missing the real point here:
Ms. Vig is likely single again. Go get 'er, boys. Wonder if her PM Box is full? Ray |

If Vig's wife is ugly, she's probably lucky to see 10% of the money that was given. [/ QUOTE ] I think the main reason this hustle worked was that the pictures were very endearing. |

Gild, Since not everything about being a mod is black and white, I ask you to make an exception to a new BBV Rule: When referring to Vigorish or this incident, BBV is allowed a reprieve from its ban on yearning for combustion-related personal injuries and/or fatalities. [/ QUOTE ] ya that one is definitely overruled for at least this thread |

twoplustwo, please don't turn on your selves. There are more hard feelings and more stupid arguments and serious vile (for non-vig people) in this thread than anytime I can remember. Please reserve your vile for Vig, we are all shocked and disappointed and a little out of sorts right now. [/ QUOTE ] |

One thing I asked when this first came up, but never followed up on when it wasn't answered (afaik it was never addressed), was about insurance. As I understand it, if she had insurance that was going away, and they got new insurance without a lapse in coverage, he condition is not considered pre existing. Again, I am not positive of the law here, but I believe you are only really screwed if you let your coverage lapse. It seems crazy to be raising money to pay hospital bills if in fact you only have to raise money to cover the cost of insurance.
FWIW, my wife has had two forms of cancer in the past 5.5 years (unrelated, that is, the second was not metastatic, which would have had an extremely bad prognosis). If anyone ever wonders why I harp on health insurance so much, there's your answer. |

GW,
You do not need to defend your actions, Vig scammed, by consequence someone can feel ''responsible'' you shouldn't. The fact that you started to investigate and eventually made this thread shows that you care about BBV and the people who make it great. Sponger for GW'S assistant. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] I'm not really laughing at the fact that people donated money. I'm sure anyone who donated did not break out the wallet big time and donate money that means a LOT to them. Its kind of like, "Each person gives a little, it will help a lot" mentality. I just think its ridiculous at how SURPRISED people are. This is an INTERNET POKER FORUM. He's asking for ONLINE SITE TRANSFERS to help his GIRLFRIEND. I guess some people have faith in humanity as it was proven that his girlfriend had cancer. HOWEVER, I guarantee if each of the donators had sat in at a gambler's anonymous meeting, they would think differently. I'm not calling everyone in 2+2 a degen, its just the probability that someone is a degen increases greatly by the fact that they post on an internet poker forum, and exponentially that they post asking for monetary help on an internet poker forum. And you people are all ridiculous saynig the people that thought it was a scam should have pmd gild! Say hypothetically, I do do that, and he (for whatever reason or not) agrees with me n stops the fund raising. It turns out to be legit, and Mrs. Vig dies. I would have to deal with that guilt. It is far much more easy to say nothing, mention it to a few of my friends, and then say "I told you so." when the drama comes out :P. [/ QUOTE ] I think you're wrong, Degenerate gamblers by definition don't care about working to try to win like we do. They blame all their losses on bad luck and never think to try and learn something about the game. Nobody discovers 2+2 for BBV. I first came here to try and learn how to beat 25NL, not post in BBV. I would bet lots of money that the rate of degeneracy among avid 2+2ers is lower than the rate among the non-thinking poker populace. I donated a small amount on FTP with the full knowledge that there was a risk involved. 800 posts is a lot just to pull some scam together, so I felt like that risk was low. Don't act like we're fools because we decided that the risk was worth it. [/ QUOTE ] Interesting point on the degeneracy thing. I would think that an avid 2+2 poster is more likely to be a degenerate because of how immersed they are in poker at all times. I wonder what an actual study would prove, lol. I think that there are some thinking players, very big winners, that are still degenerates. They just so happen to be good at the game. [/ QUOTE ] yeah, you're basically an idiot. 2+2ers don't often gamble with money they can't afford to lose - that's part of why they make money [/ QUOTE ] laff. also, whipsaw.. wow. |

[ QUOTE ]
Vigorish, I hope that money served you well. Glad we could all make a contribution to your degeneracy. You used two things that we would be sensitive to in order to make us believe you were legit; a beautiful woman and a terrible disease. If I had to choose, I'd rather the cancer be stricken upon you than Sarah, and given the duration and longevity of this life maybe one day you'll be so unfortunate to find out what it's like to wakeup terminally ill. I hope for your sake that a would-be good samaritan doesn't show up like a wolf in sheeps clothing trying to prey on peoples sympathies just in order to get his fix at your expense. This isn't a threat you little worthless dickless castrated piece of [censored], this is a promise: What comes around goes around you worthless [censored]. [/ QUOTE ] I firmly believe that Vig should be prosecuted...to the extent that TxRedman deems fair. |
