On a board of 7d-5c-6d-Ah-Jd gobboboy makes a 150K bet into a 100K pot. this is called and gobboboy shows 2 diamonds for a rivered flush and the other player mucks. gobboboy takes down a 400K pot from another big stack.

I should probably start a new thread for this, but the WPT site hates you guys and are TOTALLY condescending. This, from the most recent entry:
"So, why have the live players gone down as hard as they have here? I've strung together a hypothesis. I think we're looking at a convergergence of events here. Consider: - 700 players here qualified online - Included in their number was a large number of 18-20 year old, professional calibre players who practice extreme aggression. - Traditionally, the Internet style of play has seen a lot more action preflop than the established pros would like. - A large number of the established pros didn't play here because a) Pokerstars sponsoring the evnnt may have interfered with sponsorship deals, b) We're a long way from Vegas and outside the US, c) With the Aussie Millions this week, a number of players flew down early. What does all of this mean? Normally, with live pros making up a larger portion of the field, their post-flop preferences will often assert themselves. With their numbers so small here and the Internet player-standards taken to the extreme with the 18-20 year olds and high Internet qualifyer rate, the online style of play has asserted itself, creating a minefield effect. With so much going on pre-flop, players lose much of their control of their own destiny. Get it all-in as a 70-30 favorite three times and you're probably out of the tournament. I imagine were going to see more of the same for the rest of the tournament, but don't expect the pattern to maintain itself come time for Tunica two weeks from now. Most of the American pros will be back from Australia by then and the field will be much smaller by comparisson. Enjoy it while it lasts, kids." I say you ARE the wave of the future, and the pros are having a horrible time dealing with it. Nice job guys. Congrats to you ALL. |

I'd be more inclined to agree with Exit that this is one of the hardest fields the WPT has seen. Who wrote that thing on the WPT site? Link?
Incidentally, while it is true that the full tilt pros absent from the PCA will be in full force in Melbourne, I am nearly positive that the Aussie Millions ME will be a much softer field, and maybe the softest > 5k buyin in field outside of the WSOP ME. Edit: P.S. GO GO GOBBO CHIP LEAD! Edit Edit: linky: http://www.worldpokertour.com/tourna...days=4#log6143 Edit edit edit: Who the heck is James Fricke? |

Lol, basically admitting that most live pros suck since they have played for 20 years without having to learn how to handle aggression since their opponents sucked even more than them, and at the same time blaming luck for their incompleteness. Takes some time for the new reality to sink in, obviously.
