Best show on TV...Goggin's performance was amazing...hell, so was everyone else's.
It's a very complex show about the characterization of supossedly "evil" people. There's just no such thing as black and white. We all have our reasons for doing even the most heinous of deeds. When talking about this kind of theme, for me, The Shield is an artistic achievement right up there with The Godfather films I'll miss the character of Lem, though...Kenneth Johnson was really great. |

[ QUOTE ]
I can't believe Shane killed Lem. That god damn prick for killing Lem after everything Lem did to protect the team. [/ QUOTE ] I thought that's what was going to happen when they met and it was just the two of them. And when Shane mentioned his wife being pregnant again, I knew it was coming. A beautifully acted scene, very dramatic. Shane was always the most cold-hearted one on the Strike Team, even more so than Vic, IMO. And yes, Lem did not die immediately. And yes, next season Vic will find out the truth, if he doesn't know it already. What next season holds? Somehow working up the tension b/w the Claudette/Dutch camp and the remainder of the S/T. Who knows. I know I will watch. |

Yeah I dunno if there should be any ambivalence about Shane though. Once you frag a friend of yours, I think you've removed all doubt what kind of [censored] you are. I know Shane's a tortured human being blah blah but I hope he gets seriously [censored] up next season.
I can already see the scene in my head between Vic and Shane once Vic finds out. I can see Shane's whiny red face pleading, "I had to!" I can see Vic struggling for a second. But I think this one will put Vic over the top. |

That's what I always loved about this show. The flawed hero thing. It's not Sipowicz talking rough to a suspect when you know he's a good guy. Oooh, he's bending the rules a little! He's so bad!
This show gets it right. They do great things and horrible things and are really conflicted about it. |

[ QUOTE ] fkin lem man.... god damnit. [/ QUOTE ] His character had nowhere to go in the show. I saw it coming and still thought it was a great twist, though they dragged it out a little afterwards. Any chance Shane eats his gun sometime next year? Maybe not, with the kids... that may be what saves his life with Vic, as well. It's not as if Vic can argue about killing another cop to protect the team. |

Please, can someone verify whether it was revealed that Vic is the father of the baby?
Also, quite an ending, though I saw it coming when they first met. Why didn't he burn the car, however? Thanks |

I think Shane eating his gun would be a great way for him to go out - new baby and all. That would make it even more gut-wrenching. Vic killing him seems too obvious.

Thanks [/ QUOTE ] They insinuated it. They did not flat out say it, unless I missed it.. This is the best show on TV. In fact I would say this is one of the only shows I have ever watched that left me with a knot in my stomach. I knew it was coming (you had to be blind not to see it), yet when it did, my first reaction was I am done with this series. Like it happened to someone I know................... weird. But the show, to a regular, is that powerful. Some thoughts: No way in hell Vic knew, afterall he told the lawyer that if need be to keep the team out of trouble he would take the hit. Next season this will bring the Shan/Vic angle that developed with Antwan last season to a head. 1-2 things will happen. Shane dies with Vic somehow unscathed or Shane dies and Mara brings Vic down (money train). Vic will find out how Lem died and that will be a Nuclear explosion. I can not wait to see the fallout of that. The Lawyer (forget her name) is going to play a roll in bringing heat on Vic for Lem's death. Just my opinion. I think the main Kavanaugh/Vic angle is done. I think Acevedo is going to play a bigger roll in the whole investigation that will ensue. |
