Default Re: Vegas Comp Question

[ QUOTE ]
Hi all,

I am 2 yr internet player that is planning my first poker trip to Vegas. I would like to know what type of comps I can expect to get from the Casinos. I would be playing 2/4 or 5/10 NL for 10 hours per day and plan to stay for 3 - 4 days. In a perfect world I would expect:

1) A ride to and from the airport
2) A free room
3) 1 or 2 free meals a day (for me and wife)
4) 2 tickets to a show one night

So my questions are as follows:

1) Am I crazy or is this possible? If crazy, what might be expected?
2) Which Casinos would be best to approach?
3) Are there times of the year where they offer more?
4) Can such a deal be worked out ahead of time, with an understanding, that I would have to pay for everything if I did not play the promised hours?

Any other general comments would be appreciated.

poker players generate very little money for the casino. your expectations are way too high.

Thanks to those of you who gave me real answers.

And for those of you who got bent out of shape, pls tell me where you play cards. Because if you are that bad at reading a post, then you must suck at reading players and cards. My post clearly stated I'd never been to vegas and knew very little about this, and thus why I was posting and asking. So of course, I am probably going to be off base.

The only information I had was that a friend of mine just went to the Wynn and played 1/2 NL and got his room comped everyday for 6 hours of play. I was as surprised by this info, as I know the casions real money does not come from the poker room. But since this is true, if I were to play 5/10 NL and for twice as long, shouldn't I expect more? And shouldn't I expect 4x as much, since I play twice as long at more then double the stakes? Well, what is 4x more then free room?

Since most of you just gave me the same negative energy that you play cards with, I took matters into my own hands, and I have actually since called the Wynn, and discussed such a trip for me, three friends, and our wives. The room thing is true, 6 hours play a day and its comped. Additionaly you build $2 HR towards comps, but if you smart about it, a buffet meal a day can be put on top of that.

So it's not official yet, but I will not be surprised if I get 1, 2, 3 (1 buffet per day). However, I did basically get laughed at in regards to number 4 (unless we play table games).

What some of u narrow minded responders don't get is the following:

1) everything is negotiable
2) the casino has a big interest in 4 gamblers and 4 wives who like to spend cash, in thier casino.

Ok, I didn't think it was possible, but you just dug your hole even deeper than it was after your first post and you have probably now alienated yourself from 90% of the people who have read this ridiculous thread.

When I said in my first reply to you that you were living on a different planet I meant it mainly in jest, but now I am really starting to believe that you reside in the Twilight Zone.

First you say that you talked to someone at the Wynn who told you you would be comped a room for playing 1/2 NL Hold 'em. Anybody who has every played poker at a casino knows that you are completely full of sh-t for making such a statment. What makes it even more absurd is that you are talking about the MOTHER F'IN WYNN, the nicest and most expensive hotel in the entire history of the city of Las Vegas. While the Wynn is quite generous with reduced room rates for people who are playing a game that makes miniscule amounts of money for the casino compared with slots and table games, to try to convince people here for ONE SECOND that you were offered a comp room for playing any form of poker is perhaps the most laughable thing I have seen on this forum in the year 2006. If somebody at the Wynn told ME such a thing the first thing I would do is ask to speak to a higher up because it would be obvious that the person I was speaking to did not know what the hell they were talking about. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN. If you go down to the El Cortez and sit at one of their poker tables for 24 hours straight you will not get a comped room (not that you would want one, but that's a different story).

It is obvious that you were not listening when you spoke to this person or that perhaps with your stubborn "I am always right and I deserve to be handed the world on a silver platter" way of thinking you only heard what you wanted to hear. The point is you were and are dead wrong and seem to have a very hard time admitting it.

You are delusional.

I find your statement of "everything is negotiable" to be quite laughable. I know you've never been to Vegas but what you need to realize is that this is 2006, not 1956. NOTHING is negotiable. At least not for people like you who will contribute about .00000000001% to the Wynn's bottom line for the fiscal year.

I also like this statement: "the casino has a big interest in 4 gamblers and 4 wives who like to spend cash, in thier casino."

You are sadly mistaken, sir. Recently the big hotels began to make more money from non-gaming revenue than they did from gaming revenue. That's not to say that they are disinterested in gamblers, but just about everybody who stays at the hotel is going to gamble at some point. If you think the Wynn or any other hotel on the Strip covets your 1/2 NL Hold 'em action the way you seem to think, then you are absolutely out of your mind. You are living in an entirely different century, sir. You seem to have serious delusions of grandeur.

I seriously pray that you post a detailed trip report when you return from your little vacation. Even better, I wish I could be sitting at the table with you to see the look on your face when, after playing two hours of 1/2 NL hold em, your request for a free steak dinner and tickets to see Elton John play at Caesars is denied.

I called them 1-877-321-WYNN. Asked for poker room. Comped room for 6 hours poker play at any level. Comp points are above and beyond, starting at $1 hr at low levels and up to $2 hr at higher levels.

Now that is what they publish and advertise for all, even for donks like those that posted here with negative comments, so that means with some tips and friendly conversation, more is available!

Well, I will be interested to read your trip report when you return to see what you actally paid for everything playing low limit poker.

And, if you are going to be playing in Vegas you need to get a thicker skin. The tables can be brutal at times.

Yes. We definitely need a detailed trip report.

In a perfect world I would expect:

Do a little homework - how much revenue will YOU generate the casino by playing 6 hours in their poker room?

Go ahead, figure it out.

After you do, see if that revenue even comes close to covering the expenses you want covered.

You don't think someone else has pointed this out to him in the 30 hours since he posted this?
