These guys aren't going for looks. They are looking for someone who is compatible. The fact they are dating women in their 40s and 50s who aren't smoking hot is no major news here.

He could be pulling in 10s left, right, and center. But he doesn't, and that's why he--and his girlfriend who is not a 10 (or a 9)--belongs in this thread.
