The reason people sometimes fall apart after being the sole refuser to a deal is that they get self-conscious. They start playing "not to lose," to avoid feeling like an idiot for having passed up the deal.

Either that, or the alleged propensity for deal refusers to lose is illusory.

I have a theory on that, seems to me like the one guy that doesnt want to make a deal usually puts the aggression on overkill after a busted deal since he thinks everyone else just wants to go up one pay level, as everyone knows this usually ends up either very good or very bad depending on the hands he runs into or if he gets played back at.

You may be right. iirc, plasticard had a somewhat weak Ace here...like an A9 v KK...board AKx x A. I think the bulk of the money went in on the flop with plasticard calling.
