I asked one of my martial arts instructors about personal self defense in the parking lot. He's a great fighter, and a fulltime cop. He showed me the following items that he had on his person. The first was a flashlight. He shined it into my eyes in broad daylight outside, and it was BRIGHT. Just a quick flash, and I had a bad sunspot obscuring my vision for many seconds thereafter. I think it would badly blind someone at night. It's specifically designed to do so actually.
There are many different models of this flashlight. You can find them here Another very nifty item is this pepper spray. It's simply the best designed pepper spray I have ever seen. The safety is extremely easy to pop off and it blasts out from the bottom. Check it out here at ASP's website. They also sell collapsible batons, which are srsly illegal in CA, but may be permissable for you in your state. Check your local laws before purchasing and carrying. Stay safe guys |

[ QUOTE ]
I thought LA is home to all the glamour and movie stars. Why do all the rich folks live there then? [/ QUOTE ] Yes, that's true. All ten million people in L.A. are rich movie stars. |

The first was a flashlight. [/ QUOTE ] I think that plus a gun would be the best combination. |

also, check out ASP's website for stunguns. They are very affordable. They even have some that look like cellphones. This would be a very handy item if someone just rushes you and takes you to the ground all of a sudden.

curious how safe one's money is INSIDE places like this.
Thinking in terms of pickpockets, getting robbed or roughed-up in the mens' room, and having chips disappear from your stack while you're looking away or away from the table. It sounds like the southern-Cal rooms are way more degenerate-central than most rooms I am used to. And I don't how much faith I would have in security and cameras to successfully catch every sneaky pick-pocket or chip-stack stalker. I've never been to the California rooms. Would such concerns be considered over-the-top ridiculous? |

Some other posters and I were discussing how upset we were that Commerce was being invaded my so many 2+2ers. This is a great thread in that it will hopefully deter you guys from infecting our nice little fish pond. Yes! Stay away! You'll be mugged!

Commerce has a shuttle bus that runs the parking lots 24/7. Just take that bus and you are never alone and are delivered to your car, dropped off there and are never alone at any point in between. That should solve ANY between the door and your car if you don't want to wait for the valet.

on more than one occasion when I've had a big night at a sketchy LA casino I have requested security to walk or drive me to my car if I didn't valet and I'm parked not close to the entrance.
I tip them $5-$10 and its well worth the safety. |
