Sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation, on a good note, by being the bitch, you've gotten what you wanted. Don't play thier game, ignore anything said about you.

I live in a pretty nice house that I own and keep a roommate. One of my neighbors flat out accused me of dealing drugs. She assumes that because I don't leave my house for work everyday, that I must deal drugs. I didn't explain a thing to her, let her believe what she wishes.

Next time she accuses you, why not lean in real close and whisper "what do you need?".

Hi Taso, I guess its a blessing. I gotta say, for the most part the community here is a good one. I feel better about this just venting here. Its like therapy

[/ QUOTE ]

technically you still didn't answer my question about the details of your illness.. you know, about whether or not you had the trots?

Hmmm.... invasive question in a post about invasive questions? Irony, lol. Since you asked so nicely though, no. Everything else though, including being so cold my hands were like ice, stomach sick, sore muscles, head ache. The works, but alas, no runs.

I'm with you. I'm not looking to be super friendly with my neighbors and your neighbors are clearly way over the line.

If it were me I wouldn't answer the door. Failing that I would just become annoying. They come to the door. After they start talking, I claim to hear the phone, tell them I'll be right back and not come back. They pry into how I'm doing I make up some medical condition so when they're gossiping they just look dumb.

This could turn out to be real fun. I don't think they will come over anymore, but I could try this. Banging at the door, who is it? Answer, nosy neighbors. Reply, I am sorry, I can't come to the door, I lost my leg in an accident and can't walk.

Wait 3 minutes for this breaking news to populate the entire neighborhood, then go outside and skip around my front yard. I think you may be on to something. Loves it.

OP, I am 100% with you and WTF at the posters saying you are anti-social.

I can tell you that if some complete strangers came over to my house as I was unpacking and started grilling me with questions like you mentioned, I would have been FAR less polite than you were. You are absolutely right that it was none of their business, and people who feel a need to ask all these questions are not "friendly," they are nosy [censored] who want to gossip about everyone.

Neighbors A are the main problem here and I truly cannot believe the outrageousness of some of their behavior. Looking in your windows--WHY ARE YOU LOOKING IN MY WINDOWS? YOU ARE TRESPASSING, AS IN, COMMITTING A CRIME! Commenting on the liquor in your trash--WHY ARE YOU GOING THROUGH MY TRASH? Coming over to ask you about neighbors' marital problems--WHY ARE YOU AT MY HOUSE AT THIS HOUR, AND WHY ARE YOU ASKING ABOUT NEXT DOOR NEIGHBORS? MIND YOUR OWN [censored] BUSINESS!

I think I would actually recruit the nice neighbors to be on your side by telling them that neighbor A came over to nose around in their marital business. And I would definitely confront A about how she lied about the substance of your chat when she woke you up to gossip, and explain my side of the story to B and C. I wouldn't give A the satisfaction of spreading falsehoods about me.

But you sound like a much nicer person to me.

DMC0627,
I know Orange very well, and actually think you should do the opposite of what you're hearing here. Host a small neighborhood cookout or dinner. Invite all these people over for one day. Let them in your house, let them see how gracious and courteous you are. Once everyone is comfortable, happy, and certain you're not a nut, let them know how you feel about your privacy.

The next day set a bunch of Claymore mines around your yard to see who wasn't paying attention. Turn those people into fertilizer, spread them on your daylillies and hostas with a little cedar mulch. Water thoroughly.

Why is this not a thread of it's own?
