A Neither rudy nor McCain will ever get elected as the Rep nominee. It will either be Romney or Thompson with Fred the most likely nominee.

B Obama can beat both of them fairly easily if he runs a good campaign given this is a change election.

C If get the nomination he will select Obama as his VP...and the election is essentially over.

You seem very optimistic about where America is at racially. If it's there at all, I think it's mostly in the big cities, and even then, mostly on the coasts. That leaves most of the country out. We're a long way from the point at which a black guy can "fairly easily" beat white guys.

Would a female or minority president ever be a realistic possibility with the electoral college? Seriously. Maybe, and I mean MAYBE, in a hundred years we might see this but not now, not today.

edit: Just read davet's post, sorry for repeat.

I think she'd have to have three t*ts or something to get elected.

The whole Obama can't win cuz he's black is retarded. The majority of the states where the racial factor might prove a problem are states no Democrat will carry.

A woman is a much bigger problem than a black man. Especially given the hate for Hillary + the fact she is dull and old news.

So the question is..... Is Ohio ready for a female President?

Just because he can't win because he's black doesn't mean he also can't win just because he's a democrat.

How does this fit in at all with your idea that Obama would "fairly easily" beat what you consider the most likely Republican nominees?

Because given it is a "change" election it is likely that the winner will be a Democrat. Of all the Dems Obama is the best canidate in a general election...short of Gore.

And Thompson is kind of a joke...so if they choose him as their nominee..which is likely..the only opponent he probably fairs well against is Hillary.

Obama would have a much tougher time vs. Rudy...but pigs will fly before Rudy is elected

Obama's out because he's black, Hillary's out because she's both a woman AND because she's Hillary,

I don't think I agree with the first statement. I think a black man could win, just not sure about Obama. For instance I think Colin Powell could win. Obama's problems may be a lot more than his skin color. I've only seen him speak a couple of times and I think he might have trouble winning people over. He seems somewhat uncomfortable and halting when he speaks.

They say that people pick a candidate in terms of how honest they think the person is. Now I actually like what Obama has to say, I just think that his manner and presentation is a little stiff and forced which could pose a problem for him. I'm wondering if he has that sellability factor.

I agree with your second statement (above). Hillary will be out because she's both a woman and Hillary.

Can you explain why you think this, please?

I used to like McCain (several years ago) but now I think he's sounding pretty nutty. I watched some of the debates and I wasn't impressed with him. I think he's acting kind of like a crazy old guy. Reminds me of a nutty grandpa.

Rudy is too conservative for my taste but I have to say that of all the Republican candidates, he speaks the best. He's very commanding and comfortable in front of cameras. Very natural acting.
