somehow i feel like there must have been some clues to this outcome before you actually tried to lean in for the kiss with this girl..?

at any rate i think you played it out pretty well overall.. adapting to the situation as best you could, and trying to follow through on your intentions throughout..

for future reference i think its best to offer to pay for everything that comes up on the date, but as soon as the girl chimes in like she wants to throw in for something then let her.. best to not make a big issue over it (especially if something small like a couple drinks or a game of pool etc) and quasi-argue for the next 3-5 minutes which will only lead to a little awkwardness.

-sidenote- i sometimes find it best to try to plan a date that is more or less on the girls level of operation... ie if your taking some college soph out whos flat broke, then do something relatively inexpensive, maybe go for a walk to get ice cream or something etc. if your taking some girl out who has a job/money then play on that level and find a nice restaurant to dine at.. the poor girl feels uncomfortable when she sees you playing out of her league (it can sometimes make you come off toolish, especially on first dates) and the girl with money is going to think your a clown if you bring her through the drive through.

at any rate you definetly cant win em all in the dating game, and this one got away from you but there will be many more.. try to learn what you can from all these type of situations, so when the right girl is around you can be comfortable and confident with her which will obv lead to sexytimes.
