would the Lakers consider trading him to Portland/Seattle for their upcoming pick + bloated salaries? I know the Blazers have a couple worthless large expiring contract guys, what about Seattle?

So Kobe has been fine with the perception that he ran Shaq out of town for all this time, and just now wants it to be known that he had nothing to do with it?

I have a really hard time believing this

Now that he's asked to be traded he doesn't have to worry about stepping on anyone's toes in the Lakers organization.

mason,

Kobe not talking about his convo with Buss isn't the same as him lending truth to the speculation that he made an ultimatum through silence. I wouldn't be surprised if Kobe wanted Shaq out and him "never saying to get rid of him" is sort of a technicality. There's a ton of back room stuff we'll probably never know about.

Either way this offseason just got interesting. He'll be a megavillian in LA if/when he gets traded.

Sorry but the ESPN article is BS. There is no doubt in my mind that he wanted Shaq out. If he wanted them to keep Shaq then why did he wait till the day after the trade to resign. Kobe is a narcissistic prick who was jealous of Shaq for getting all the credit. He was so full of himself he thought he could win a championship without Shaq. He really thinks he is Jordan. The sad thing is he might be able to be Jordan if only he wasn't so selfish. He is only coming forward against the statement now because 3 years later Shaq has a title and he barely has 2 playoff appearances.

Well, as long as you're sure, ok.

Even if Kobe never came out and told the organization that he wanted Shaq out of town, doesn't it seem probable that the organization did it to assuade Kobe and give him more reason to re-sign? Would Kobe have re-signed that summer if Shaq was still on the team?

I'm an admitted Kobe-hater, so my opinion here is very biased. But I really picture Kobe as the delusional type who can lie through his teeth and believe his own BS.

Seriously, what a freaking baby this guy is. He wants to be traded, and there's nothing the Lakers can do to change his mind? I say let him rot in LA

Seattle might be willing to do this, I dont think Portland does. I think Seattle is probably a better fit for what that trade would amount to than Oden anyways. I think its very doubtful that either of these happen though.

If you listen to the 570 KLAC interview I linked above, Kobe sounds pretty honest and upfront about the whole Shaq thing, and Buss in general. (It's a very in-depth interview.) FWIW I am not a fan.
