i don't wear short sleeve shirts that are button down - i have a bunch of them, but every time i put them on i think they look dumb.

My friends and I consistently make fun of guys who wear button down short-sleeved shirts. Particularly if they are plaid.

[/ QUOTE ]

so what do you think guys should wear instead?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think that if you're looking for something short-sleeved, you need to go with a polo- or golf-shirt. If the occasion calls for something more dressy, then you've got to go with a long-sleeved button down.

This may be a regional thing; as I said, though, guys who wear short-sleeved button downs are major dweebs around here. <shrug>

I agree almost 100%. Wear a long sleeve button down with the sleeves rolled up, it looks a million times better.

prob. gonna come off sounding like a tool here but in the book magic bullets (PUA stuff) they warned to never wear golf shirts and polos when out. Everyone does it, makes you seem plain and boring. While ffk may make fun of those guys who wear peacocky stuff, she also notices them and they stand out, rather than the 12 guys sitting around in polos.

In Atlanta people wearing shorts in bars are either FRAT-n hard, have no style, or don't care that they'd look better in long pants (read not single).

I need some input from the devil's foro general de la discusión. I'm trying to find a nice leather shoe that I could wear to work or to an upscale bar. They don't need to be the same shoe but since I don't go to upscale bars much I'd prefer it if possible.

Generally at work I'll be wearing cotton black dress pants and polo shirts or long-sleeved button downers with no tie. No jackets.

Bars would be slim cut jeans and an untucked button-down.

I guess I'm looking for something to complement a geek chic image, not too heavy on the geek since I've already got enough for both me and the shoes. Any suggestions?

I came across Scoop in Las Vegas, there are some in NYC as well. What's your budget?

Personally, I rarely wear shorts I stick to jeans - I can never find a pair of shoes that I think goes well with shorts.

Redd,

I'm a huge fan of Tod's, go there then look elsewhere. Their driving shoe will work for any look.

hey guys,
i'm looking for a light summer jacket. the type of thing that i can wear to a bar or just wear while running errands. right now, i'm limited to an old Adidas hoodie. i would like to have another option.

i'm about 5 11, 185 pounds. relatively good shape...any ideas? i spent at nordstrom and bloomingdales over the weekend but couldn't find anything i liked. it was either too "fashion-y" or didn't fit well.

thanks,
mike

i will add, i'm sorta into the shirt-jacket things.
click me for an example

I picked up something similar to this from guess around christmas, works for a lot of places on a night thats around 65-72 degrees out. Mine is black and a bit shorter than the one shown. Also I rarely button it up.
