nice post, i think a huge issue with poker is it requires long-term thinking, when people are more interested in the short term (just look at usury for example, things are worth more now than later). so it's hard to say, well he put a bad beat on me, but i'll get him in the long run. we don't care about the long run, we want his money now, and we'll do whatever it takes to get it. hard to get away from that line of thought.

[/ QUOTE ] Agree with everything said here. I can sum up my problems in poker with two words: instant gratification. Once I can completely expunge that concept from my mind, I imagine I will be able to play poker better than I ever thoight I could. |

Great Post, thanks for sharing. I want to disagree with one of the replies on giving you advice:
[ QUOTE ] Stick with one game, whatever you prefer most, I'd say 10/20 6max as an example. Dont jump around in NL and limit and SNGs and MTTs just stick with one thing. If you do want to play something different then just do it for fun but not serious money. Are you playing for fun or money? if you are playing for money then pick a game and specialise in it. [/ QUOTE ] I think this is horrible advice. Poker is supposed to be fun. You have a good background in a lot of different games. Each of these games exercises different poker muscles. I think you will be much better off in the long run by continuing to mix things up from time to time The only game you should choose to specialize in is one called "Bankroll Management". |

Great read kramer. Great to have a friend you can confide in with so much trust and a stable (from what I understand) with your girlfriend.
Thanks for the post. |
