Oh man,

Why did I open this thread? Sometimes I hate living in Italy. I miss sushi so much.

I am about 78 kilo and think I eat a lot, but my friend which is below 50 kilo eats all her sushi then my leftovers, then orders more, so I think I should just accept defeat upfront. I think though that if you are allowed to sit 5-6 hours some can eat very much if they go on a very tough running trip or something before, since it is very digestable.

This place also has all-you-can-eat. I haven't been, looks like reviews are mixed:

I ate at sushi hunter two weeks ago, the "regrettable," "brady bunch in hawaii," decor was serviced by a "giddy" staff that is most likely laughing "at you." The sushi selection and quality was standard, especially if you are a "desperate stray dog" or a "carny." The dragon roll is enthusiastically recommended to anyone in search for "the source" of "SARS." Are you eating at Sushi Hunter right now? If not, then the all-you-can-eat "food" special is "truth in advertising."

For the record, here is a sushi eating contest that we can all learn from: nigiri is better because otherwise we all look like we're bobbitizing a giant roll.

why not make it an all you can eat place in vegas or somewhere that a lot of edf-ers will be in. there are a number of places there that have 25 buck ayce/made to order sushi that's decent. you can make the winner the one who eats the highest dollar value based on the menu prices, so anything goes as far as form. These places usually have a one hour time limit as well, so you have that parameter taken care of for your contest.

this would make me really ill, and I love sushi. I've been in ice cream eating contests and buffalo wing eating contests and beer drinking contests, but something about sushi doesn't feel right.

also I would spend about $300, unless it was at Todai which we don't have here, and anyways I don't know if eating 100 pieces of sushi from Todai is something I want to do.

All,

I think the winner will be between 75-100 pieces.

[/ QUOTE ]

I disagree with this estimate, i have had similar competitions within my own family/friends with sushi, and at least 3 people went into triple digits.

zero: Yes, you are probably correct.

belly: Haha, OK, nice. Now that looks totally familiar, well done. It has been forever since I read a Zagat. Citysearch, Yelp, and Gayot for me.
