there is a book called dirty poker written by Richard markus (who wrote "the great casino heist, UK titl cant remember the American title), which talks about online collusion, bots and "peeker software" a lot.
It's quite an insight as to what goes on on the internet and the capabilities peopel have. However it probably does not matter much to low limit players and high limit players probably have enough sense and knowledge to recognise and exploit bots and collusion |

Collusion and botting are two things that cannot be denied in online play, and you're a total idiot if you think online poker isnt a completely different game. [/ QUOTE ] Uhmmm, I win money play on the internets. I no collude and no do botting. Me just lucky? Stop spreading lunacy. Collusion could happen and its easy to spot. A super-bot (if it existed) would be no different than a great player. Leave the table. If all the players around you are better than you, its more likely that you suck than you are swimming in superbot infested waters. To claim that collusion and bots are so pervasive as to actually make internet poker "a different game" makes me beleive you are either a donkey or a paranoid shzophrenic off his meds. |

Amazon just sent me this book offer. Book Description: [ QUOTE ] With the renewed interest in the WSOP and Texas Hold-Em poker, online poker rooms have become the easiest way for the average player to get in the game. Online poker generates billions of dollars a year. Millions are playing and millions are lost every day. When playing poker live, an experienced player coupled with a little luck is a winning hand. But when playing online, rampant cheating and endless numbers of bad players make the luck factor the deciding factor. This book will let you understand the two different games being played, comparing live play to online play. What No One Else Is Saying About Online Pokerhighlights how the internet has changed the game into a free for all that could bring even the most experienced professional poker player to his knees, begging for mercy. What No One Else Is Saying About Online Poker is the tell all book about online poker. Topics: . Research the ins and outs of the industry and how the internet has changed the game forever. . Understand why online poker rooms are spending millions to detect cheating. . Learn the different types of cheating taking place in today's online poker rooms and how to recognize it. . Uncover the truths and rumored myths of online poker. . Learn exactly where online poker rooms and the players stand concerning the new bill passed into law on October 13,2006:"The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006". . Arm yourself with the knowledge to compete and discover if you can even afford trying. Author Carl Varrone, a successful business owner and poker enthusiast began his research for What No One Else Is Saying About Online Pokerin 1998. His curriculum included reading numerous books and firsthand experiences in casino poker rooms learning to master the game. When poker rooms started popping up on the internet, Varrone found himself playing online every chance he could. Through his years of playing and research he was compelled to write this book. Every person playing online poker or considering it should learn from his experiences before getting in on the action. [/ QUOTE ] Sounds like this guy is finally putting in print what most of the online veterens prolly already know. It was only a matter of time, I guess, before a book like this got published. Thoughts/opinions/kneejerk reactions? [/ QUOTE ] [censored] Alert. |

[/ QUOTE ] If it exists, I view collusion as an aspect to some people's game that makes them better. Their (skill level + collusion) allows them to move up to larger stakes. Every one of us has our own skill level by Peter Principle, and the colluders are no exception. Perhaps with your skill level, you'd be ready for higher stakes. Following up on your statements, it becomes a table selection thing. If I think people at my table are colluding, and they are good enough that I don't feel I have an edge, I get up. (I don't know if there is collusion or not, but the uncertainty is enough to put me on tilt and thus I need to get up) |
