I feel like every college town has some unique restaurants famous amongst their area.

Let's hear a top 3 or top 5, what the restaurant is, what it serves and why it's special.

University of Maryland -

1) Danny's - claims world's greatest hamburger. while this is incorrect, they do have amazing drunk/late-night food, most notably their cheesy fries.

2) Ratsie's - best pizza/hot wings in town. kinda expensive, but a must-visit for anybody hungry after the bars. definitely the best pizza and most delicious wings in college park.

3) Cluck-U - chicken joint specializing in fried chicken, chicken sandwiches, etc. also stars local rap celebrity "Cluck-U Pac," who has music videos online.

note that this thread does not want to hear about chain restaurants such as papa johns, coldstone creamery, CLUCK U etc. only list what your college is unique for.

La Bamba- greatest drunk burritos and super nachos ever, open late- burritos as big as your head
Bonnie Jeans- 2 big slices of pizza for $4. above a bar and only way to get there is by going up a single stairwell where the top is just the counter and where they make the pizzas'. excellent cuz its so greasy and cheesy when drunk

Don't forget about Papa Del's

I believe Spankys is unique to Lubbock, The best Cheese sticks ever.

Then being in cattle country there are quiet a few good steak houses that can fit any budget.

This-

Also are there any other Antonio's pizza anywhere other than the one on Green?

PS-I know Antonio's pizza is a ridiculously common name for a pizzeria, what I mean is if there is another chain of the one in Champaign.

The International Sandwich Shop AKA ISS. This is the best sub place I have ever been to. I go there about 3 times a week. The best bread I have ever had. I go there so often the people who work there know what I am going to order when I walk in. The only problem is the guy who owns the place is a complete tool.

[/ QUOTE ]

QFT -- ISS is the bomb. It was going to be the place I listed too.

CC, don't worry about Ray (owner). He's always been like that. I lived in the brick house next to ISS (talk about convenience) during my time there. We got to know him well. Any way to make a buck, and he'll do it. He's not as bad as you'd think though.

Ohio University

Courtside Pizza - Best pizza in town also serving delicious subs and sides.

D.P. Dough - I know its not unique to OU but there are less than 20, and it can't be overlooked for a great food down here. Delivers a huge variety of delicious calzones til 4am.

Souvlaki's - Awesome greek fast food joint open late night to satisfy those beer munchies. Everything and i mean EVERYTHING is fried.

O'Bettys - Another great late night snack place. Best chili dogs/smothered fries in town.

Big Mamma's Burritos - In a town without the luxury of a Chipotle we have to deal with what we have. I'm not complaining. They offer a good variety of burritos with a different taste compared to Chipotle.
