[ QUOTE ]
Don't you get personal days or vacation days? Just take one and then you can leave town a day earlier. [/ QUOTE ] This would be perfect except there are like 4 of us going, they have typical mon-fri 9-5 like me. |

maybe i'm in the minority..
but your first response being "is this legal that i'm being told to take a friday off and work a saturday" ie can i use the law or the threat of a lawsuit to salvage the 1 saturday in 4 years that i've been asked to work. reflects some amount of immaturity in the work force in my opinion |

I wonder if they phrased it more as
"come by and spend some time setting up your desk on saturday so that you're ready to work first thing monday morning" If it would be different. If you're a network tech or something, obv it's different. |

I'd be super surprised if this were "illegal". You keep mentioning "hourly" employee. What makes that so special? Is it illegal for some hourly jobs to work on saturday instead of friday?

[ QUOTE ]
if you had plans to leave town...have you considered asking to speak to your boss privately... by the way: this seems sketchy cause didn't you say you weren't sure what weekend it was yet? and saying : "i see that this is important; but I already have plans to travel that weekend... is there any way for me to avoid having to change my plans?" [/ QUOTE ] He said it will be 3rd or 4th weekend, but is unsure. He said it's like 75% the 4th cause another office in same building is moving the 3rd. If its the 3rd I say nothing and work the sat. If it's 4th, I will speak with him privately. [ QUOTE ] maybe i'm in the minority.. but your first response being "is this legal that i'm being told to take a friday off and work a saturday" ie can i use the law or the threat of a lawsuit to salvage the 1 saturday in 4 years that i've been asked to work. reflects some amount of immaturity in the work force in my opinion [/ QUOTE ] Just wanted to know if it's legal that's all. I mean if it is illegal someone SHOULD say something correct? |

[/ QUOTE ] Dude, IDK. I know like zero about labor law. I just tried to give as specific of info as possible so that the lovely and positive knowledgeable people of OOT could assist me.
