Where do you get the hydrogen from? [/ QUOTE ] Coal gasification and liquefaction starts with te "water gas" reaction. When you react water (or steam) with burning coal. H20 + C -> H2 + CO. You can then react the hydrogen with more coal to get methane (gas) or heavier hydrocarbons (oil).

First let me say Global Warming is nothing to worry about....long before the industrial revolution Greenland used to be a fertile farmland. The Earth goes thru cycles, and yes someday Siberia and Greenland will again be great fertile lands not frozen like Lambeau field in January.
