Can somebody answer as to which game is loser 8/16 or 15/30.
I find it hard to believe that any game there is loser than 8/16. How does 15/30 generally play?
Thanks

[/ QUOTE ]

it depends, but i think typically the 8 game is where people who have just escaped from an insane asylum flock to. the 15 game can have some decent players in it.

I know what you mean. I am winning player at 6/12 and would like to play higher but the two or three times I've jumped up to 8/16 it's almost more like bingo than poker. Having it capped before the flop 20% of the time just isn't cool for me. They just love to gamble it up and it kind of throws me.
Is the 8/16 always like this?
Anyone have any advice or insight into beating that 8/16 game?

yeah, that was the one exception. I still dont know why i sat in that game. The game did get real good later. That was the game where BK made his Q high call down after 4 bets went in on the turn.

you need to fasten your seatbelt and LOVE the fact that those nuts are in there with any 2 cards. that said, you need to have (a) a roll big enouogh to deal with massive swings and (b) the ability to take totally retarded beats without it affecting your play. imo (b) is why many decent players cannot beat that game. they just tilt when a moron calls 5 cold with T4s and flops a boat. and beats like that happen all the time in that game. that said, the morons often miss, and when they miss, you make billions.

Thanks PokerBob.
Maybe I should try the 15/30.
Does that usually play a little more normal?

typically, but the game usually isn't as good. i actually have been toying with the idea of play the 8 more often, as i'm not sure my earn would be that much lower than that in the 15, and may even be higher on some occasions. plus, playing with total morons cracks me up.

Its funny that many 6 players have foregone the 8 game altogether, because of the swinginess. I think playing 2 years in the 8 game helped to me to absorb bad beats better and therefore tilt less. Avoiding profitable situations because you might take a few nasty beats or run bad for awhile is not a great mindset if you are trying to become a great player.
