How do you not look at your account balance when buying into tables?

You gotta squint and make your vision blurry while you do it.

Does anyone think that PT has become counterproductive to them from an analysis standpoint? Certainly, it's great from a data mining standpoint when used in conjuction with a HUD. Aside from that, it's the center of our poker sins because so many of us spend so much time looking over the numbers, which really don't help us improve. For beginners, the numbers might be helpful in identifying possible leaks, but when was the last time PT helped a solid 5/10+ player find a leak?

Lately I've been wondering if Pat could make a shell app that would just import hand histories into the db. That way I would be less tempted to open the ring game statistics to see how green or red my numbers are.

Anyway, the longest time I have gone without looking at PT is 3 days. 20 minutes is my norm and that needs to be changed.

wow, deep. maybe we should actually spend less time working on our game and more time appeasing the poker gods? i know i'd rather be the lucky guy with a killer winrate than the great player who just can't move up.

A good way is this - go into PT and open the "general tab." Now, we can adjust the size of the summary stats - it's actually possible to make $won/lost and BB/100 so small that we can't see the numbers! So, click on the edge of the field and slide the little line over until you can't see the numbers/colors...

I never knew the mechanics of how to do this. Thanks a ton!

Yes, this is a great idea. Everyone who looks at their pokertracker results or cashier over the next week should transfer me $25.
