odds that one of these guys drops to 22? [/ QUOTE ] Not very good right now, but the Senior Bowl/Combine/Workouts always shakes things up. I don't think Poslunsky falls past #15 Pittsburgh, some teams earlier will have interest. ATL, SF, STL, CAR, DEN would all have interest in Nelson/Landry. |

7. Minnesota: Leon Hall- They think about Brian Brohm and Dwayne Jarrett but decide that they want to build with defense first. [/ QUOTE ] they were a top5 defense, bottom5 offense yeah they could use some help for pass defense but I think offensive problems are a bigger concern |

[/ QUOTE ] they were a top5 defense, bottom5 offense yeah they could use some help for pass defense but I think offensive problems are a bigger concern [/ QUOTE ] More specifically, they had the: 16 rushing offense #17 passing offense #1 rushing defense #32 passing defense They definitely need help defending the pass. Now I do agree that they could use some playmakers on offense, but I think that they can contend next year for two reasons(they are good in the trenches, they play in the NFC). And since QBs and WRs usually take a few years to develop(and since they already have prospects in QB Jackson and WR Williamson) I think they'd rather address those needs in free agency. |

[ QUOTE ]
All, Al Davis has a long history of refusing to draft QBs and instead trying to find one through free agency. The most recent example was last year when he passed over Matt Leinart and Jay Cutler for Huff. In the free agency era, I don't think he has ever taken a QB early in the draft- EVER. [/ QUOTE ] During the Sugar Bowl, Howie Long said that Al Davis believed that Brady Quinn would be the third best QB in football within a few years. |

I am fairly confident the Lions will draft Quinn if he's there, Thomas if he isn't. I'll be happy with either.

I believe you that Howie said that, but I really doubt that Al Davis would be telling Howie Long his true thoughts on this year's prospects and then being perfectly fine with Howie Long sharing those thoughts with millions of people watching. I'm sure I could dig up a ton of great quotes about how the Texans front office praised Reggie Bush at this time last year. Maybe Davis really is in love with Quinn, maybe not. But I can guarantee you that hes not going to be leaking his true thoughts to the media anytime soon. Hes been around for a long time and he knows how the "draft gamesmanship" works.
The current era of NFL free agency began in 1989(Plan B from 1989-1992, the Plan A beginning in 1993). Since then, Al Davis has never taken a QB in the first round, and its well documented that he has a specific philosphy of choosing to go after veteran QBs in free agency rather than through the draft. Could that change this year? Perhaps, but it certainly looked like Oakland was a perfect fit for a QB last year when Leinart fell to them and they passed on him then. Again I'm not saying what I think Oakland SHOULD do, I'm saying what I think they WILL do. |

How much has JaMarcus Russell's stock improved w/ tonight's performance?
Who will be the Raiders QB next season if it's not Brady Quinn? |
