And yes, I do think it's fair to say. Clearly R.I.P. Poker believes it's fair to say that Europeans are better poker players than Americans are RIGHT NOW. He's not saying "Europoean poker players will be better than Americans when the poker boom hits." He is saying that they are better than us RIGHT NOW.

[/ QUOTE ]
wtf? The boom happened years ago.

An advice to all you patriotic americans: don't take this post serious.

The average quality of European players is much higher than the average quality of American players. I defy anyone who isn't American to disagree.

Im canadian.

There's no reason to believe that either is better than the other. People who think that there is probably do so because they're blind to evidence that supports a conclusion that is contrary to what they already assume to be true.

Right now we do have reason to believe that the typical american online player is better. Recreational players are far less inclined to be playing online in light of recent events than are people who play seriously, which leaves you with a skewed sample of the american poker playing population as a whole.

When was the last time a European won the WSOP main event? 1990? Mansour Matloubi? He was from London. That was 16 years ago. And before that, NOBODY from outside of the US of A won the main event.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'd be willing to bet that the average european finished higher than the average american in almost every WSOP that has ever been held.

It's an american event. Which means the vast majority of players will be american. And it also means that of the europeans who do choose to fly to the US to play, a far smaller proportion will be casual players.

Mortensen from Spain?

I'm American but is it really fair to figure the ratio before the poker boom? I doubt there were that many # of Europeans in many American events .

[/ QUOTE ]

Carlos isn't european.

as for the guy who said he's descended from euro stock, yeah, same here. that doesn't mean i have to have the least bit of tolerance for these eurotard [censored], though, .. and i don't.

i might like the germans, though (i am german), and i've had some awesome matches vs a swede and a norwegian and definitely prefer playing them as i find them to be trickier in general, but they're still jackasses.

I don't get this, the Euros are by far the biggest fish. Where is Umea, cause I'm going to move there. I've run into the worst lags from there. London also.

[/ QUOTE ]

Umea, Sweeden.

By the way... I don't know what I am doing here in highstakes, but the title of this post caught my eye. So, European dude...

When was the last time a European won the WSOP main event? 1990? Mansour Matloubi? He was from London. That was 16 years ago. And before that, NOBODY from outside of the US of A won the main event.

Do the math! Figure out the ratio of American WSOP event winners (side events as well) to European event winners. Hell, do any annual event in the world. And while you're at it, why don't you look at the top money makers list and tell me how many of those players live in Europe. Compare that to how many of them are from the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.

I'm out!

[/ QUOTE ]

And what about Joe Hachem ;] ? !
Btw. in WSOP play 90% american players so there are small chances to win this event by europian or another un-american guy. I can say that in USA most poker players are bad or not really good ( also in Europe) but there're still some good ones
