I watched deadwood for the first time last night since I usually do all my laundry on sunday nights before entourage comes on but my mom and brother flew in to visit me for a few days and she did it for me.
Anyway, I thought the show was pretty interesting, but what's with everyone calling everyone c*nts and c*cksuckers? I like cussing as much as the next guy and there aren't any words that offend me, but I couldn't stop thinking about that. And I liked the whores. |

I forgot to add: I thought the scene with Dority and Ellsworth was AWESOME. One of the best of last night's episode, IMO.

Have it on TIVO so haven't seen it yet, but I just wanted to say that this season of Deadwood is probably the best single season of any TV show I have ever seen. I don't understand how we can get 20 pages of Lost and Sopranos posts yet only a few for Deadwood. I guess people don't know what they're missing. [/ QUOTE ] What he said! |

This has kind of been discussed, but who exactly is that chick in the hotel that Langrishe was dealing with last episode? Should we have an idea of what's going on with that at this point?
And are we supposed to assume that Odell was never really in Liberia? Or if he was, how was he going to defraud Hearst? And if there was no scam, why is it implied that Hearst killed him? |

One more question: Why was Bullock campaigning in Sturgis? I thought this was just a camp election?

"There's a note pinned on him, Al."
"Take it off him. Then stick him in the eye with the [censored] pin." [ QUOTE ] Yes it was. Funny that Dan got such a great scene when W. Earl Brown wrote the script =) [/ QUOTE ] Has Earl written any other episodes? This was the first time I recall seeing him get a writing credit. And the writing was fantastic tonight. WTF is up with HBO On Demand? "Amateur Night" never made it to OD. Somebody above says that he watched "A Constant Throb" OD, but it's not on mine. I work Sunday nights, and I'm used to dialing up OD on Monday, or Tuesday at the latest. Do different cable companies have different OD menus? And since nobody's mentioned it: What's up with Cy tearing up his healing wounds? |

And are we supposed to assume that Odell was never really in Liberia? [/ QUOTE ] He was definitely in Liberia. His mother sent him there when he was younger. She thought that she was doing what was best for him, but he ended up coming back angry and resentful for being sent away. Defrauding Hearst was partially to get back at her. [ QUOTE ] Or if he was, how was he going to defraud Hearst? And if there was no scam, why is it implied that Hearst killed him? [/ QUOTE ] He claimed to be representing a group that had discovered a gold deposit. He was approaching Hearst to invest in the gold mine. Hearst figured out that it was a scam and had him killed (though he never admits doing so -- but it's pretty obvious that he did). |

I meant had he really just come from Liberia - seems like he didn't, if I recall correctly one conversation about timelines that he had with his mother.
And I still don't really get how he was going to defraud Hearst, who surely would have sent someone to verify Odell's claims. As for Cy - I think it is just extreme depression and self-loathing. Ever since Stubbs left he's been going downhill. |
