There's some very solid names mentioned so far, but I can't believe no one has mentioned Chili Palmer from Get Shorty yet. Travolta does an amazing job portraying Chili's cool in this movie (let's not talk about the uber-mediocre sequel).

Michael Madsens character in Reservoir Dogs, i forgot which mr.(color) he was but he was a badass, he is pretty much a badass in most of his movies even in crappy stuff like free willy and tilt.

I would have said val kilmer in tombstone but that has been mentioned, damn he was good.

The Brian Cox Lecter from Manhunter was a pretty damn cool character as well.

I think I'm on to something... Michael Mann has some pretty cool characters.
