The Pogues - The Band Played Waltzing Matilda.
Holy crap is that a depressing song. Jawbreaker - Jet Black Sorry About Dresden - As the Ruins are to Rome Slint - Good Morning Captain (most emo song ever) Townes Van Zandt - Marie Tom Waits - Georgia Lee, Come on Up to the House Jimmy Cliff - Many Rivers to Cross I think my all-time winner is the original Five Blind Boys' version of "Goodbye Mother." Download it HERE NT |

Amplify- I like the lyrics posted. That kind of adds effect. Another couple you HAVE to listen to Ryan adams sweet carolina "I went down to Houston And I stopped in San Antone I passed up the station for the bus I was trying to find me something But I wasn't sure just what Man I ended up with pockets full of dust So I went on to Cleveland and I ended up insane I bought a borrowed suit and learned to dance I was spending money like the way it likes to rain Man I ended up with pockets full of cane" Ryan adams "La cienega just smiled" "And I hold you close in the back of my mind And raise my glass 'cause either way I'm dead Neither of you really help me to sleep anymore One breaks my body and the other breaks my soul" Ryan Adams [/ QUOTE ] Ryan Adams, "Come Pick Me Up" Come pick me up Take me out [censored] me up Steal my records Screw all my friends behind my back With a smile on your face And then do it again I wish you’d make up my bed So I could make up my mind Try it for sleeping instead Maybe you’ll rest sometime The harmonica is so eff'ing good in this song |

I always thought that if I was ever really depressed, I did not want to hear Staind because I might just wack myself. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that people have killed themselves to some of their songs. [/ QUOTE ] Me either, but not because they're sad. |

'Hurt' is a good one; the Johnny Cash version fits this particular bill better than the Nine Inch Nails original.
If we're going to talk about remakes, I propose the Ryan Adams version of 'Wonderwall' (the Oasis song), just for the way Adams wails "Wooonderwaaaaaalll" at the end of the chorus. |

"Last Kiss" orginally by J. Frank Wilson, then covered by Pearl Jam (the PJ version is sadder) [/ QUOTE ] Seriously, in the original version, the guy sounds chipper singing it. |
