I have a question about table selection. Before I used to select a table with a lot of money at it, so that if I got a hand I would double up. However, from what I have noticed lately the best table to find is the one with stacks hanging around $80-$140.
Its filled with donks who buy in for $40-$120 and play recklessly. You wont have the potential to win $400-$500 pots with the nuts if you cooler someone or find a bad player, but you can win tons of $150-$250 pots against shortstack idiots who give you tons of implied odds. Typically the guys who buy in for $200 are the better players at NL 200. Am I wrong for hunting down tables with these stack setups? |

So is this thread just for people who are too lazy to go to BBV now? I hope so. Everyone go check out my one-outer post.

[/ QUOTE ] It was a highly anticipated HU matchup between an MSNL'er and someone who was one not too long ago. Figured some of the ppl here that don't frequent BBV would like to see it, and maybe learn something. |

I have some n00b NL questions: - what is a normal - good - terrific winrate at 200NL? - is there a big difference between 200NL and 400NL? - how about 600NL --> - what about NL variance? In limit, a good player can have 500bb downswings and breakeven stretches over 70k hands. What are typical downswings/breakevenswings for a winning NL player? (ofcourse it depends on how much he wins) [/ QUOTE ] 1) Not sure what a "terrific" winrate at 200NL is but I would imagine 10ptbb+ is sustainable, given the top people are beating much higher games for 7-9 over good samples. Hourly rate > PTBB as far as money made, and many ppl play many tables, somewhat cutting into their PTBB but making more money overall. 2) Meh, 200 is softer, but 400 is still v. soft 3) 400 softer, 600 still soft. If you are a solid winner at 400, its unlikely that you wouldn't be at 600. Theres a much higher % of 2p2'ers and regulars dispersed into the 600 game, though, on Party anyway. Theres some serious droolers on other sites, but much fewer games. 4) 20+k breakeven stretches and 10buyin downswings are very normal, and of course things can be MUCH worse than that |

[/ QUOTE ] You preferrably want someone dumb with money to your right. I hate having short stacks at my table. The deeper you are, the more your skill edge over the other players is a factor. Far more options become available, and of course there is more money to be won. I have yet to have a problem finding 12 tables with at least one idiot with money on them, so it can't be too hard (ive always been good about game selection, I think). |

Do you guys take 5-15 minutes opening up tables if there is no donks on your buddy list on, by searching tables and noticing bad play? Or do you just move around if the table doesnt seem favorable?

[/ QUOTE ] step 1) check buddylist for fish/multifish tables. go there or waitlist them step 2) open up available tables with highest avg pot, and either noticeable bad players or players i havent seen before (which usually means bad) step 3) play, close a table if it becomes a TAG-fest and open a fresh one. its not too much extra work, but a little goes a long way. |
