7 "Insides?" sent:

2 haven't read, so of the remaining 5:

1 no response (sadly, the most attractive girl of the 5)

1 good chat, leading to IM and a likely future meet (potential here)

1 got a response, i then asked her what her favourite thing was on toast (looking at her photo, i assumed she liked food a lot) and no subsequent response (i think i [censored] this one up)

1 who i asked if she was a stalker, who, in return, gave a remarkably self-confident reply (potential here)

1 who i responded to yesterday, no further contact yet (potential here)

i have never used inside either. i think inside sucks. you can still make a witty comment about their profile and it only has to be one line, but instead of merely striking up conversation, it strikes up conversation about something THEY are interested in.

An update...

[ QUOTE ]
Alright guys. I'm in way over my head on this one and need some serious OOT help. I think I'm pretty much dead in the water here, but let's see if you guys can help. She's a few yrs older than me, btw, and her profile mentioned guys born in the 70's as part of who she wants to meet. (I added subject lines since they're relevant.)

Oh, and I know my opening was kinda weak, but I really couldn't think of anything and wanted to message her - figured it might work.

Subject: 23 year olds make me have to write lines in my "about me"

I figure I'll start opening it up in my 30's. My idea is similar to how it's done in LA...but BETTA! Trying to build my clientele. Or at least thinking about trying.

I did enjoy your fabulous, 'how many towns can he live in' story there...thanks for that, Champ.

got any others?

xxx (challenging your next subject line to have nothing to do with your message).

Not that you didn't see that subject line coming...

So you're planning on opening a comedy school? I assume that's not what you teach little kids currently. I figure they should probably learn the fine art of the whoopie cushion before exploring the more Colbert-style sarcastic deadpan humor. How'd you decide you wanted to open a school?

And to answer your question: grew up in Brooklyn, HS in Jersey, moved to Austin after grad school.

Dear Andrew-
I am ever so sorry to hear a cat got your tongue recently. I assume it was not my dear Rudy because you'd no longer think him cute.

I don't know what your opening line could be. How about "I'm 23 but I act a lot older"???? How's that workin for ya?

xxx (not 23 with a tongue sharper than a guillotine. Take that, Frenchy)

Well, I've been struggling with coming up with anything other than telling you you're kitten is cute (which incidentally, he is), but I'm sure you've heard it, and it really doesn't inspire much interest on your part.

So if you could help me out and maybe provide an opening line you'd like, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

What's my play here? Am I doomed? My profile for the references.

So much for the age thing not mattering...

Babelfish???!!!! hahahahaha.

high school french for me to. I'll translate what I last said..."I am very tired today because last night I was up sleeping with lots of boys."

My phone number, huh? Only if we are meeting as friends. I don't date 23 year olds!!!!!

xxx (realizing that I always put a period after the parenthesis ends).

So, as I'm limited to 3 years of HS French taken long ago, I have resorted to babelfish.

I can thus understand you being very tiredness ajourd' today because to heir evening you are the couchie with boucoup the men.

And please, for the love of God do not destroy that documentary! Wait, pre-tape or post? Whatever, either way, that thing is gold.

Really, I'm not that good at poker yet, but my sister learned it really quickly, really well, and I think very similarly to her, especially in card games or general logic. Could be fun to learn, if not profit from.

--Andrew (Asking for your phone number so I can accept your air hockey challenge. Though not hopefully not near any medium-large bodies of water...)

Well I'd have to get a loan. Yes I am in school finishing my theatre degree and taking business classes. I already teach the kiddos.

Does this mean I have to destroy my 10 hour Mili Vanilli documentary?

I don't know how to play poker. Never have. I want a pro air hockey career. I am actually the best there is. Only lost once, you see, but that's because my opponent took off his shirt. However I did have a red haired boy claim he beat me once on the Santa Monica pier...but then he found out what that pier was really good for.

xxx (je suis tres fatigue ajourd'hui parce-que heir soir je suis les couchie avec boucoup les hommes-but not really).

I see... so basically, you're as close to that goal as I am to my pro poker career. So how do you go about starting something like that? And are you in school to teach acting/comedy then?

Sorry no stories at the moment. I'm more of a spur of the moment stroyteller. I might have actually tried to make a career of it, but I got caught lip-syncing a story once. I've been a Milli Vanilli fan ever since. No, I'm kidding, there were never any Milli Vanilli fans.

--Andrew (attempting to maintain at least one continuous line of conversation)

So yeah... ah well. I'm gonna try and turn this around, but I've encountered agism before, and it's pretty well impossible to get past.

You know, I am still not sure she isn't just being cute about it. And, if she is that closed-minded about something as stupid as 3 years age difference in her mid-20s, then she is acting far younger than you. Once you are a true, honest to god, "ain't gettin' any younger" adult, age matters only in matters of attractiveness, common interests, and legality.

Well I tried a turn-around, but it may have come off an an angry rant... The last few girls I've attempted to date (not from the internet) have all had the same issue, regardless of mutual attraction and rapport...

Women in their twenties seem to just want older guys, and it's really irritating, cuz I'm sick of women less than 26 yrs old. You should check out the dating sites, like match - there are so many women that are 24, looking for guys 25-35. It's actually kind of funny if you think about it.

All you need is a good opportunity to let her get to know you, and see that you are a real man. Women of that age want men, not boys, and I agree that most males below 25 or so still act a great deal more like boys than men. And, once they hit around 30 or so, the trend reverses...

Yes, yes. True. But as this thread is not "wooing chicks from myspace.com" that will be the end of this lead. I have a couple more I'm working on. Though I will be attemtping to see where I can get this to go. Thanks.
