you dont think the nba wants it two most marketable teams in the final? im just waiting to laugh at the decision the nba hands down today. bruce bowen not having been suspended yet in this playoffs is already enough of a sham.

the pistons and spurs are the two most marketable teams?

could've fooled me. I see one team that most people don't like and another team with no stars.

i might've thought they'd want cavs/suns. nah, lebron, steve nash - no one would want to see that.

Lebron James > all Detroit Pistons combined when it comes to marketing power. Phoenix Suns are a much much more media- and casual spectator-friendly team that the Spurs.

again, go look at the ratings:

Unless Stern is involved with some Zionist conspiracy that the Pistons/Spurs helps promote, this is really far fetched. These teams don't get TV audiences excited.

Thoughts?

UPDATE: Steve Kerr on Yahoo:

... if the league decides to suspend Diaw and Stoudemire, it may have to suspend Tim Duncan and Bruce Bowen as well.

In a play that went entirely unnoticed until well after the game was over, both Duncan and Bowen actually left San Antonio's bench early in the second quarter after Francisco Elson and James Jones were entangled. Replays clearly show Duncan walking several steps onto the court as Elson and Jones appeared to be ready to get into it. Bowen then followed Duncan onto the floor, grabbed him and led him back to the bench. If the league does indeed follow the letter of the law, both Spurs players would also be suspended for Game 5.

I watched the video of this myself. Duncan and Bowen certainly cross the line, albeit not in a heated manner at all, and only barely over the line. And at the time they did, it looked like this might turn into an altercation. If anyone is going to use the "a rule is a rule and that is that" argument, this would certainly diffuse it. Which means, I guess, we are now 100% in the land of a David Stern judgment call.

this was my point above. the nba would never ever consider suspending duncan and bowen. Apparently its not for ratings as has now been proven, but why then?

PITTM - how could San Antonio and Detroit be the league's 2 most marketable teams? I mean you can't possibly mean in the NBA, so you must mean left in the playoffs, and that's still not true.

League's best bet to stamp out the chippyness and maintain order plus not destroy the series

Horry suspended for 2 games
Bowen, Duncan, Amare, Diaw suspended for 1.

Well that was a punch in the gut. One thing is certain: when they put their collective minds to it, the Spurs know how to do the job.

Regarding the [censored] at the end, I don't see how at least Amare isn't getting suspended. I wish he wouldn't, because it will ruin the series, but jesus [censored] christ, how stupid can you be? If he does end up sitting game 5, it's his own damn falut.

That was really disappointing of Horry. Old man had a terrible game, and then did the whole series a giant disservice. Blah. This sucks.

[/ QUOTE ]

Disservice? if you're a spurs fan, you must be rejoicing by the "clutchness" of big shot rob. If Amare gets suspended, Horry should get the MVP. Genius.

[/ QUOTE ]

Pathetic.

CDS - I didn't see tape on the Duncan / Bowen thing, but Kerr is usually fair, so I believe him. This seems like the most appropriate line considering this retarded rule is in place.

Kerr is usually very Pro-Spurs since he is a former Spur himself. This must be true for him to admit it.
