Okay, simply put, I don't think things will change that much in OOT. I really don't see it as degradation, I see it as enhancement (of OOT AND 2+2)

And I do think a lot of OOTers would actually like it (yeah I know this is a lame-ish posit, as hardly any have piped up here: from the way this thread seems to be going, it feels like me and a couple of others vs the rest), and I'm sure a lot of non-OOTers would (which we agree on, I think).

[/ QUOTE ]

2 out of every 3 forum posters disagree

[/ QUOTE ]

wow, as it stands, 30% of OOTers agree. So I was right, a lot of OOTers would actually like it. cool.

I don't understand how you could possibly believe this. Could you please explain how/why you think OOT will not change (that much)?

[/ QUOTE ]

Because you can still post in OOT exactly what you post now. Why do you think it will change, given that?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think it's silly to assume that this "You can post the same stuff in both forums" idea will work. Within a week, people will be bitching relentlessly about double posts, requesting that threads be moved, etc. Once these requests are followed through on (which they certainly will be), OOT will lose the maturity/immaturity, sophisticated/common, signal/noise balance that Blarg talked about previously and won't be able to sustain itself.

i think A&E is too broad of a topic to split off from OOT...if u really think there is enough content with serious discussions and reviews for a new forum, then make a Film/TV/Book Review forum...but putting 'entertainment' into another forum won't work so well...'entertainment' is the topic of OOT

2+2 can't be everything to everybody...if it spreads itself too thin by splitting off all of these forums, then it'll lose the mass...

again, when i want a good film discussion, i go to a film messageboard...when i want a good a/v discussion, i go to an av forum...etc etc

i know 2+2 may not wanna lose my traffic to those, but i still spend more time at 2+2 than those because they only deal in one topic and i like to look at many topics, not just focus on one all day...

i think if A&E posts were swamping OOT and harming OOT, then u may split it...but when OOT is fine and A&E is not harming it, then you shouldn't take it out...OOT is the cash cow and u should not be taking out things that make it good

No, actually DB, because the link is also connected to the zoo. So this is an adequate representation of twoplustwo.

Just to be clear, I really disagree that A&E threads in general get buried under "less worthy" threads and thus don't have a "chance to flourish."

And on a side note, even if it is 30% of OOTers that is not "a lot of OOT". Damn, you are stubborn DB.

db,

"Because you can still post in OOT exactly what you post now. Why do you think it will change, given that? "

Having two separate forums on a poker forum where it is appropriate to post movie reviews, discussion of TV shows, concert reviews, etc. would make no sense.
