[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] The Colts had the #2 defense last year. This year they had a few key injuries during the season, but they are mostly healthy now. The Colts having a horrible defense is largely a myth that Manning-backers have come up with to defend him against the "choker" label. [/ QUOTE ] Gah, total B.S. First, I've explained to you previously why the Colts did not have the #2 defense last year. You seemed to agree with me, but here you quote the false stat again in order to bolster your position. Second, the Colts defense was indeed horrible this year -- I have no idea why they're playing so much better in the playoffs. Last year the Colts' defense was above average, the year before it was about average, and in the years prior to that it was just as awful as it has been this year. Whatever you think of Manning's performance in the postseason, he deserves a ton of credit for getting his team to the playoffs again and again despite little or no help from the defense. All that said, Manning sure did have a bad game today. Keep in mind, though, that it's not as bad as it seems at first because he was playing the best defense in football. [/ QUOTE ]They were horrible this year due to injuries. They are playing better in the playoffs now that they're healthy. It seems as if you're agreeing with me that they were either average or above average the past few years...thats all I was ever saying. I wasn't saying they were great, just that they weren't horrible. |

[ QUOTE ]
how funny would it be if Peyton goes on to win the SB with like 2 tds/10 ints for the postseason [/ QUOTE ] Not funny at all, it would be a worse curse then not winning one. Thus far, it seems as if that's fates plan, in a Twighlight Zone-y twise, give him the title, but make it in spite of him, not because of him. When ROFLsberger did it, he was a hero, Manning isn't allowed the same luxury, being the best QB of your generation causes alot of hate. Cody |

Thoughts after the game (because I know you were all waiting)
1) Love the calls, no IC/PI on Balt, but give it to the Colts. Both were penelties, both need calls. 2) Wow, Adam V. really can't miss. 3) Manning played a bad game against the best D in the league. McNair played a bad game against one of the best D's in the league (hey look they're healthy again). Both QBs got pressured and the Ravens especially played alot of deep cover on the Colts. Peyton played hard, but was forced to make marginal throws at best (unless he wanted to constantly scramble/throw it away). Peyton is one of the best QBs in NFL history, but when teams decide "We will not let Manning beat us", they have to allow Manning to opt to run and win slower, closer games. Look at the scores in the past: "Hey let's let Manning's arm beat us, we'll just blitz him and he'll fold"=49 TDs and a 121.4 QB rating (uhhh how)! "Hey let's drop 6-8 back in med-deep coverage and make the Colts run"=12-4 with an average margin of victory in the high single digits. Cody |

Cody [/ QUOTE ] Manning gets a lot of that hate because his fans proclaim him as the best when he hasn't won anything despite having a great supporting cast throughout his pro and college career(not sure about HS). I personally don't mind him at all, but I can see why some people wouldn't like him. He(and his bro fwiw) can come across as the spoiled rich white kids that grew up getting whatever they want, but they're not really tough and choke in big spots- I'M NOT AT ALL SAYING THIS IS TRUE, just explaining where some of the hate may come from. |

[/ QUOTE ]A Colts fan complaining about the officiating is the ultimate irony imo. Many calls went against Baltimore, including by far the biggest call of the game, which if it was called correctly may have meant a BAltimore win. |

Who did they get back that wasn't back the last 2-3 weeks of the regular season? [/ QUOTE ] Bob Sanders. I still can't figure out how you go from 179 ypg rushing to 50 ypg in 2 games. They had to of been mailing it in during the season on D. Sanders makes a difference, but not that much. |

Ravens just aren't that good at running the ball. Still very two impressive efforts on rush defense by the Colts, but LT2 or Maroney/Dillon are going to expose them next week. |
