[ QUOTE ]
i still dont see why yi jianlin would have been a bad pick, pierce was so firm that he didnt want that guy on the team [/ QUOTE ] Most likely to bust in this draft - Yi. There's a reason he wouldn't work out against other people. There were 2 people I did not want the Celtics to draft at 5 that were potential picks, Yi and Noah (just cuz I can't stand Noah). As is, the trade helps the team some, but the injury and general deterioration concerns with Ray Allen are the things that really worry me. I think saying he doesn't fit with the team at all is overreacting, but that in 2 years his production is as likely to be what Wally was giving us as for it to still be +20 points/game |

There were 4 players I didn't want them to draft: Yi (bust), Noah (too high for him), Brewer (not likely to be that good, though the defense would be nice), and Green.
Interesting stuff listening to Mike Gorman (CelticsBlog has the entire 40 minute convo hosted). He has a lot of Big East sources that don't think Green is or will be any better than Gomes. While that may not be true, I wouldn't expect him to get much better, so I'm glad we stayed afway from him. benza, big no on the Allen / Wally comparison. Allen is much better at every aspect of the game. And if Allen is deteriorating, Wally is officially dead. The man is made of glass. |

Ok, I was exaggerating some, but it seems pretty clear from the history of players like Allen that he is not keeping this up for that much longer before he starts to break down.

This trade was pretty breakeven.
Is anyone really happy if they draft Yi? |

We need a backup PG. I keep reading reports that we're all peachy there with Rondo, but we're not. He's awesome, but he's a sophomore and probably isn't ready for 40mpg. I'd be much more comfortable with him playing 30ish, maybe 35.
I don't want Pruitt getting a lot of minutes. He's a rookie. He might be OK (I think he'll bust), but when you're making moves that say you're going for it, you don't have time to [censored] with these players. You set a 9 man rotation and you stick with it(lol w/ Doc at the helm). Who's available? I know Blake is a free agent, but I don't think he's on the radar. What about Chucky Atkins? I could live with 15-20 mpg from him as a backup, but he's old. Someone like Ridnour would be good if we could get a fair price, but we couldn't I don't think. |

OK.. you're probably right, but I don't know what the Cs could offer, without giving up too much (Gerald), that would interest the Sonics.

I'm getting more stoked about watching Ray Allen on a regular basis:
highlights (what a release) FSN interview (man I hate Gary Tanguay, but Allen gives a give interview). |

I'm getting more and more happy about this trade as time goes on. Ray Allen is someone you can root for, and that shot of his is gorgeous.
