So how many suits briefed Amare before that press interview?

Guys, to be honest, I didn't even see the incident. If he didn't hit anyone, no way he gets suspended. Was there a skirmish or something, and did he leave the bench???

Inside the NBA pretty much stated that Diaw and Stoudmire would probably get suspended. [/ QUOTE ] Translation: Chuck was rambling for like half an hour and Shaq also thought they'd get suspended. I mean I love the Inside NBA crew but what do they know? -Al |

hockey has a similar rule but it takes a lot more effort to get off the bench in hockey - seems pretty [censored] to suspend anyone involved, the situation was quickly defused and didn't escalate - no punches were thrown.
it occured at the end of a very intense playoff game - to expect everyone not to react is crazy. |

[ QUOTE ] there seriously should be a rule that the committee or whatever can make judgement calls in situations like this, amare and diaw getting suspended would basically decide the series [/ QUOTE ] then they should have brains, seriously. [/ QUOTE ] This is the knee jerk reaction of the Commissioner's Office and pundits alike, and it sucks bad. The NBA is entertainment. Heated moments are entertaining. Guys sticking up for their guys is something fans like to see, as it's something they can relate to and talk about the next day. This is the height of competition for these guys and things get emotional. The league is doing their best to castrate that emotion. And I hate it. Personally, I would prefer Horry to play game 5, but whatever, I'm fine if the league wants to start suspending instigators. But you can't go strip the rosters bare every time things get heated and someone does something as innocent as leave the bench and stick up for his guys. No punches were thrown, things didn't get unruly. Kevin McHale would've been out for the remainder of the Finals under today's regime. I'm sure the fans would've loved that. Also, lol @ Nash acting knocked out after the hit, then once a crowd forms he gets all Napoleon on us. Whoa Steve Nash! |

I know not many people here care about the Nets-Cavs game but I am sorely disappointed in Jersey today. The whole damn state including the basketball team. Not only did that last minute destroy me as a fan it seemed like by the end of the game there were only about 5,000 people in the stadium. Today was one of the most depressing sports moments. I knew the Nets weren't winning the title but I didn't want to see them lose like they did at home.
Sorry for the bitch but I just want to strangle Carter right now. I've never left a stadium so flat. |

The building is way too big and horrendously overpriced, ensuring the quietest crowds in both basketball and hockey. the Nets live and die with Carter - I'd hate to see what this team would look like without him, the Nets basically stole him away from Toronto for nothing. It's been a decent run with Vince, and I hope he has at least one more game in New Jersey. |

If the league suspends either Stoudamire or Diaw, the suns should just send Pat Burke into the game and injure Duncan when he's in the air going up for a lay up.
God I hate the Spurs. |
