ne14dirt: I agree with you about the general stereotype that precedes Utah, but I don't think you're giving the posters on this forum enough credit in realizing that it's just that, a stereotype. Even more than the stereotype, I think it's just the brand of basketball & personnel they've had. A decade of Stockton to Malone being the bread & butter of your team makes it boring. The casual fan isn't too interested in the intricacies of a well executed half court set. Also, contrast the Jazz (or whomever in the 90's) with Jordan, who has been fried into subconscious mind. He's participating dunk contests & his #2 guy is also an athletic wing. MJ's charming, w/ mind boggling athleticism & the best scorer in the league. They also had Rodman for awhile to liven things up. Average fans can follow this. The Jazz never had that commercial appeal. Stockton basically never gave interviews. No one really knows his personality. Malone is a post players, and they're just not as appealing as guards to the casual fan. It's all about the athletic wing players, and the Jazz haven't had a great one. Lastly, why do you consider having 3+ wives to not be a positive thing? I'm kidding. [/ QUOTE ] I think that you have made my point in that you have to be flashy in order to get respect as a force, or at least a team to watch in the NBA. It’s too bad that Stockton and Malone weren’t media darlings like Jordan and some of his team mates but you must admit they were quietly and methodically winning on a consistent basis for many many years. That said the Stockton and Malone days have been over for some years now, we need to move on from them and look at the current team. I would also add that it’s not that I don’t give this forum enough credit for seeing past the stereotypes it’s that I really don’t give most of the country that credit. I think the Jazz get an unfair wrap more often than not. |

The league saying that they're "looking" at the Bowen knee in the balls is just lame and for appearances only. No way do I think that was intentional, even if I can't stand Bowen. But, the one they SHOULD have looked at, the kick on Amare, was dismissed and they're probably taking heat for that so they're saving face. Lame. [/ QUOTE ] |

Predictions for the Suns-Spurs game. (I'm a huge Suns fan and live in Dallas, so I want all the spurs to die.) Suns win 113-88 and Bowen gets punched/kicked by Stoudemire and/or Nash.

Wow Vince Carter sucks..everytime I see the ball go through his hands bad things just happen. Where is Jkidd? he like disappears during crunch time. The Nets are just an awful team, how did they even win a series.

LBJ has got to be able to knock down those FT's at the end. Has to be a little unnerving for Cavs fans...

The Eastern conference has just blown so far. Do we even see a Game 6 this round? At least Cavs-Nets has the Pavlovic-Varejao vs. Carter-Moore undercard, I can't think of a single reason to watch the Bulls lose tomorrow.

[/ QUOTE ] The Eastern Conference is horrible I miss the good ole's days of the Knick-Heat Series, or Knick-Pacers, or Bulls-Knicks, or the Bulls-Pacers. The Nets-Cavs series has to be the worst mother [censored] playoff series ever. |

darknight,
I always wonder why they ALWAYS go to Vince at the end too. It just seems like their offense is so much more efficient when the ball is in Kidd's hands and he is making something happen. |

[/ QUOTE ] carter can drive the basket, kidd has trouble doing so - i don't mind giving the ball to carter there. ah well, was a good run for the nets. hopefully they can force a game 6 at least, but i doubt it. |

Strategically, going for the tie there with a Vince turnaround or whatever the plan was seems like a mistake. Kidd and Moore had 5 fouls and the Cavs have Lebron. OT seems like a losing proposition.
Since I'm a Cavs fan I'm sure I notice this more than most, but in Game 5 I want you guys to count all the times Hughes slows down the offense because he doesn't see a slashing Pavlovic, James, or Varejao running ahead of the pack. Mike Brown, for all his idiocy, somehow convinces his guys to keep running hard when Hughes never, ever, ever rewards them. |
