RAH....lol. That is awesome. Story/stakes/site/stats etc. immedietely please. [/ QUOTE ] I started out at NL $50 at UB back in October, and basically I sucked. I limped way too may hands, played too much OOP, ran like 30/10, but still managed to break even, so I ran my $650 deposit up to like $2k with RB + bonuses. Then my suckage started to actually kick in, though by this time I was starting to learn how to play a little bit. I was posting/reading here on the micros the whole time, but ran into just a sick downswing at NL $50. I think I made a BBV post about it at some point, but it was colder than I've ever run (except for that straight down line you see at 270k or so, but that was only for a short time). I hit set under set like it was my job, lost when I hit set over set like a dozen times, and generally just couldn't win a hand. Over like 75k hands my W$@SD was like 45%, even though my went to SD was only like 24%. I also played like a huge nit, ran at like 16/12 or so. I finally started winning a bit at NL $50, and my game was a ton better, so I moved up to NL $100 with a $3.5k BR after having taken several failed shots there before. This time I ran hot, still nitting it up, and made like 20 BIs in 10k hands. With my roll at a little over $6k at the beginning of April, I moved to NL $200. Things went well there, I opened up my game and really improved my hand reading. I had a rough downswing at the end of May, but my BR went over $10k. I decided to play a ton this month. Started playing NL $200 at the beginning of this month, and played / ran very well. Took some shots at NL $400, and have since made that my main game, with some shots at NL $600/$1k when the games are juicy, and with some NL $200 mixed in when I can't find good higher stakes games. So far I've played 67.5k hands this month and am up a little over $18.5k, so a bit over $20k with RB + bonuses. I think the biggest key to my recent success has been opening up my game, and reading hands a lot better. I make big laydowns / big calls a lot more nowadays, whereas in the past I'd pretty much just play my hands. I also adjust a lot more to specific players / the flow of the game. Even though I actually play more tables now (9-tabling as opposed to 4-6 back at NL $50), I've really learned to adapt to players tendencies, letting aggro players bluff at me, pushing weak players off hands a lot more, and knowing when to value bet instead of checking. Obviously I've also been pretty fortunate over this stretch, I've had one bad run at NL $400, but other than that no huge downswings. |

I finally started winning a bit at NL $50, and... ran hot. I... ran very well. [/ QUOTE ] I'm not saying anything about you, but this is so so so important when taking shots and can't be controlled in the least. I've played tons and seen guys like Scary Tiger zoom right past me in levels. By definition, you have to run well during shots to succeed, and those that run really well will necessarily play bigger limits. Those that think well about the game will tend to stay at those limits more, but actually getting there is more a function of luck than anything else. |

Lol pietm you scared me thought you moved up in the time we didn't speak on msn :P. I'm still running good at 50nl. It feels so good not having to lose like $200 in one hand, I [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 50nl. And I'm slowly gaining bonus money/rakeback, hell if I keep running like this I can get 1k+ a month on 50nl.
