[ QUOTE ]
Warren Karp Eliminated Kevin Farry raised to 100,000 and Warren Karp moved all in for 900,000. Farry said "I came here to play" and made the call. Farry found himself in terrible shape with his {5-Clubs}{5-Diamonds} up against Karp's {A-Spades}{A-Diamonds}. The flop was {K-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{3-Clubs}, but Farry caught a miracle {5-Spades} on the turn, making his set. The river was the {6-Hearts} and Karp was eliminated. After the hand, Farry was up to 2,870,000. WTF?! What happened to postflop play? [/ QUOTE ] I'd be on tilt for years if I were that guy. |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Scotty winning won't have any impact on the popularity of poker. [/ QUOTE ] You're wrong. First Scotty is a very charismatic person. Second, almost everybody who has played poker has heard of him. For the two reasons listed above, a Scotty Nguyen win (that sounds weird) would draw a lot of people to the tube to watch the WSOP. I think it would draw a certain % of players back into the game who splashed some money around during the boom. A lot of casual (or even not so casual) players would be talking about the event and perhaps encouraging coworkers, friends, or whatnot to watch the tournament on the tube. And also, a repeat Main Event champion would bring about a lot of publicity. Many have said it is extremely unlikely to happen again with the large fields. [/ QUOTE ] They obviously went out on a limb when they said that. |

Jerry Yang Likes Pocket Nines
Jerry Yang raised to 90,000 from middle position and Richard Harris called from the big blind. The flop was Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] and both players checked. The turn was the 4 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. Harris bet 125,000, Yang raised to 350,000 and Harris called. The river was the 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] . Harris checked, Yang bet 500,000 and Harris called. Yang showed 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] and Harris mucked. After the hand, Yang was up to 3.4 million while Harris was down to 1.9 million. Why is Yang turning his hand into a bluff? And wtf is Harris calling that much with?? Ack. Edit: Value bluff FTW?? |

[/ QUOTE ] If anyone doubts Scotty being good for the game, just watch his Day 5 interview on Pokernews: http://www.pokernews.com/live-report...t=33&e=160 Chick: "How are things going at your table, been a lot of action?" Scotty: "You know baby, I'm dancing every song, doesn't matter what type of music it is..." He has charisma to spare. The ESPN ratings would be up with Scotty going for #2. |
